3 weeks ago, my friends I went there only to be disrespected by Nathan and his little boyfriend Lukas, for whatever reason he's got a problem with my sister who is a Gothic Norse Pagan and disabled.
We waited close to an hour for our food, which was ICE COLD, and our server Brianna checked several times was intentionally held back by Nathan, who has a problem with my sister.
The following week, I spoke with Jeff regarding Tweedledee and Tweedledum's attitude, and because my sister doesn't wear a crucifix, it doesn't give Nathan the right to be disrespectful.
We went there this past Sunday and were subjected to some nasty looks from Nathan and Lukas, and they will be reported again.
This establishment is not friendly towards anybody who happens to be disabled, Non Christian or LGBTQ at all. I would give ZERO STARS if I could.
On our recent visit on 1/12/24...
I must honestly say that my friends and I were even more disappointed with our dining experience at your restaurant...
Other than the food was subpar and borderline criminal, the disrespectful attitude we received from Nathan spoke volumes.
Plus, the rude, nasty attitude he showed towards my friend regarding the issues with the previous order in which someone intentionally sabotaged the food before it came out.
And the way he screamed at her, then pitching a hissy fit all because he had to do his damn job acting completely unprofessional was totally out of line.
And if it wasn't for our server catching him trying to put peppered bacon on her burger and she changed it to regular because my friend is deathly allergic to anything with peppers in it.
And we also witnessed him be extremely rude and disrespectful to several homeless customers... Who rely on Taste Community Restaurant as their only source for a meal, making rude comments as they left.
We spoke with the staff coordinator, Miz, who assured us that the issues would be taken care of immediately.
I'm my 30-plus years in working customer service, and you never speak to a customer like that ever and go out of your way to make things right.
I hope Nathan realizes that his actions deeply offended four well-respected members of the LGBTQ community and the repercussions it will have on our great city of Fort Worth, Texas.
I hope this will serve as a life lesson to Nathan, that being rude, disrespectful, unprofessional, and judgemental is not the way to engage customers...
If he had spoken to customers like that at a big chain establishment such as Riscky's BBQ or Uncle Julio's Mexican Restaurant, he would've been fired on the spot immediately.
I hope that your founder, Pastor Jim, is made aware of this situation and makes sure it doesn't happen again.
Latest update...
On February 28th, after enjoying a peaceful meal, Nathan, the program navigator, slams my dessert on the table and makes the following comment
"Banana bread pudding here, No Goth Cunt in the chair to put up with"
Then on Sunday March 2nd, Lukas the program manager tried hitting on my brother in law right in front of my sister, on March 4th I reported these incidents to Program Manager Miz who assured me this would stop.
Then today on March 7th both Lukas and Nathan tried coming onto me.
After this happened, Nathan snarled at a customer asking for extra mustard and making a racist comment, then making a snide remark about a tattooed female customers weight.
These two disrespectful employees need to be fired, IMHO.
If any patrons have experienced issues with these staff members feel free to contact the co-owner Julie Williams at the following email...
Read moreSo this is a review of both the food (excellent) and the volunteering experience (similarly excellent!)
As a decent bit has been said her on yelp about the food, I'll devote the majority of the review to the volunteer experience. My family of 5 (wife & I, 15 and 13 year-old kids and wife's sister) was looking for an Easter Sunday opportunity to volunteer around Fort Worth, and a friend told us about Taste. We reached our to volunteer via the restaurant website, and we were set for the experience. We received information on when to arrive (an hour before opening to receive some training), and what to wear.
We arrived and were given a comprehensive overview of the layout of the restaurant, our specific responsibilities, health regulations and other details. Please bear in mind that NONE of us have restaurant experience - which is no problem for the folks at Taste...none required!
People started to arrive and we were off and running! As a server I was in the 'front of house' taking food and drink orders and answering questions about how the restaurant works - most customers were familiar with the concept - Pay what you can, and if you can't afford to pay, that's fine. If you can afford to pay more, great, that helps us feed those of less means.
The operation runs like a restaurant otherwise, and people seemed genuinely thrilled with the quality of the food and many were generous in their contribution / payments. There were homeless / shelter folks and those dressed in fancy threads coming from church, with plenty in between. Every one of the customers was courteous and gentle if there were delays in food coming out of the kitchen.
As my 15-year old was also a server, my 13-year old and wife were 'Greeters' and sister-in-law was a Food Runner, we all got a little different experience. The common thread was that we all had a great time, felt energized by the work we performed and agreed we'd love to volunteer again. All in all we 'worked' for about 3 hours, but the time flew by!
So, now to the food. If you volunteer for a shift at the restaurant - in any role, server, kitchen, busser, food runner, drink maker - you get a free meal.
As this was Easter brunch we chose the Chorizo Corn Cake with Over-easy Egg, the Eggs Benedict and the Pancakes...all were delicious, but the chorizo dish was AMAZING!
This all made for a very Happy Easter for our whole family. 5 STARS FOR TASTE! Thanks...
Read moreFlies in my water!!!! Manager Julie isn't a here for the people type of person that's necessary to be successful in this restaurants mission. Taste stopped providing straws with drinks so I've extras from fast food restaurant visits that I bring. The volunteers have previously served drinks with fingers touching rim of glass. As a long time previous server, I know this isn't the best practice. Server bought my drink and as I put the straw inside, I noticed something black in the bottom of glass. I stirred it around with straw only to discover it was a fly or two. I got the attention of Julie who never apologized. She instead said 'we can get you another'. She took the drink but asked if I wanted to keep the straw. Really!!!???? A brand new FIRST time guest and another guest witnessed the incident. I take the bus to the restaurant and leave my tote bag across the street (hidden in bushes). I've done this 4-5 times without incident. However, on this visit Julie had my tote removed from across the street not their property and places on their property behind the building and doesn't tell me. Initially I panicked wondering who could've made off so quickly with it. Fortunately guests waiting outside alerted me as to who. After learning Julie knew where it was, she let me know she'd get it later. When she decided to show me where it was, she stated a restaurant policy that was unbeknownst to me. She stated totes not accepted at restaurant was violated. This policy is not advertised, published nor was ever said to me. She therefore banned me for 30 days to visit. On my first visit she did ask me to not bring a outdoor Quick T drink inside. I took drink outside and placed on ground so I could get after my meal. I recycle the foam cups for my plants. She walked outside to retrieve it and was more clear about the drink not being allowed on property either. I then understood clearer and didn't bring my cup of water back. Her super retaliatory disposition makes for a very unwelcoming, uncomfortable experience. It does make me curious as to when the Health Department/FDA was last out for a visit? Food handling practices are very...
