Went to this restaurant for the first time, and the atmosphere was great. The food was good—tasted homemade. They had a couple of mariachi guitarists playing songs and singing. Definitely a vibe where you just want to relax and enjoy.
My friend and I went, ate our food pretty quickly so we could relax, and were done within 25, maybe 30 minutes. When eating alone, it can easily stretch to an hour with apps and dessert. We wanted to enjoy our coffees, which were still full. In all honesty, we thought we were going to a coffee shop, but it was a restaurant, and we decided to stay and enjoy.
We pulled out a chessboard since we wanted to get a game or two in, listened to music, and talked for about another 35 minutes (no more than a bit over an hour) when the manager decided that was too long to be there. Mind you, kindly, she asked us to move outside, where it was 50°, very windy, and drizzling, with I assume no live music or atmosphere.
Now, I’ve worked in the service industry, so I understand wanting to turn and burn tables, but you don’t ask people to move outside on a really cruddy day just so you can fill one table quicker. I would understand if we were there for over two hours, but even then, people were in and out for tables to sit. I may just be used to fine dining where people pay good money and sit as long as they enjoy even if it’s inconvenient to the restaurant. We got a full meal, drinks, spent about $65 on breakfast after tip, and even agreed to tip about 30% since we were staying a bit longer and wanted to enjoy our coffees and talk.
I’m sure it was the chessboard because if we were just sitting there talking, we wouldn’t have been talked to, but that shouldn’t make a difference in my opinion. Again, my friend and I have both been in the service industry for over 10 years and didn’t plan on staying three hours, but we did plan on talking, enjoying our meals, and finishing our coffee.
Overall, a very bad way to go about the situation in my opinion. If it was nice outside, that may have been different and worked in their favor, but that wasn’t the case, so we just felt unwanted there. We talked about coming back with our gf’s but that definitely changed our outlook. Other than that, our server was great! Food was good. Just wish we weren’t asked to move outside just to save an extra 30 minutes or...
Read moreOn Saturday, my friend and I wanted to eat breakfast, and she took me to your establishment; I had never eaten there before. It was my first time. The food was terrific, and your coffee is to die for; I kept asking for more coffee. She and I were there for two hours, yes, just the two of us, talking and catching up since we hadn't had time to see each other in a couple of months. Unfortunately, our server, your employee, came and told us that we had taken too much of her time just sitting at the table and that we couldn't continue to sit because there was a waiting list, and people were waiting to sit and eat. I have been a server for 18 years, and I have never dared to tell my customers, You're taking up one of my tables. We left her a $20 tip, and we only spent $55 between us. Maybe that's a small amount that we spent, or maybe the $20 wasn't enough for sitting there for 2 hours, but I felt very disrespected. I was so confused about what we did wrong. In all honesty, I just wanted to leave. I didn't know what to say to my friend or the server. I was speechless when she said we had taken 2 hours of her time and that she needed the table because they had a waiting list. In all honesty, I should have told Here, let me talk to your manager. But I didn't know if I should make a big deal about the fact that our server, who gave us good service initially, was attentive and gave me more coffee refills than I can remember. The food was terrific, and I will be back to eat there again, just not with that server. The reason I am writing this to you days later is because I'm still in disbelief of our experience that day; I'm still in shock. Never have I eaten somewhere where the server tells us we have taken up her time and it's time to go. I believe her name is Tina not sure, she was Hispanic brown skin about 40 years old short...
Read moreWe were super excited to try this place out. Unfortunately, it fell short of expectations. If you want a place with good aesthetics, this is a great spot. If you want good food, perhaps come here for coffee and eat somewhere else. I could not drink the coffee, however, because they don’t have any decaf options… I think adding hot choocolate or a decaf option would be a good move in the future. :) We paid $12 for 4 pink conchas that were marketed as “assorted pan Dulce” which were unfortunately dry… I had hoped to have options given the description. My $12 sincronizada was the thinnest it could have possibly been and when I took a bite, I noticed a hair that was cooked into the cheese. This really didn’t upset me as I understand humans have hair and make the food. They did remake it for me but I did have to pay for it (completely understandable, I ate it after all) and it inconvenienced my lunch date who was done eating by the time I got my food back. I will say that the second time, my sincronizada was probably twice as thick as before so that was a plus!! My fiancé hates onions and even tho he asked if his barbacoa taco had anything besides meat on it, he was told no and it arrived with a bunch of onions on it. I think it’s important for people to know what actually comes on their foods if they ask because a lot of people have allergies… thankfully, this was not the matter with him so there was no harm done. Breakfast potatoes weren’t seasoned. Overall, I enjoyed the way the restaurant looked and the vibe was nice but it was not the best experience as far...
