Timeless Classics Never Go Out of Style

Finally stopped in here and enjoyed a delicious meal, Im so glad I did. For the longest time I thought this was a sports bar but boy was I wrong. Its a relatively small place with an upscale charm. Our waiter Irving was just great, he made some great suggestions and honestly we looked at the menu far to long as a result of his suggestions, because most of it sounded good. Started off with a dirty martini which to be frank needed some improvements, if the bartender couldn't make a proper staple drink like that then get someone else to make it. Settled on the wagyu burger with the Mac n cheese and it was incredible, kids chicken nuggets, and enchilada and filet. The burger was really good as were the fries. The chicken nuggets were some of the best we've had at a restaurant. The ranch was good but had a very strong onion flavor and wasn't like a traditional ranch, they would be wise to just stick what works with ranch and don't get fancy with it. My filet was incredible, it was juice and cut with a fork. The enchilada as slightly bland, and would have been better without the red sauce on top, so I suggest 86'ing that or seeing if they have a different sauce. Also I recommend steering clear of dishes with their rice. It’s just not very appetizing. I will be back to try the other things I couldn't decide between.

Order curbside I heard this place was really good! Decided to give it a try. They told me my order would be ready in 30 minutes. By the time I got there the fries were barely warm and not crispy. Ordered the pastrami pile high sandwich (not pile high) although it was good but not worth $16.00. Also got the house salad which was highly recommended by the person who answered the phone. It’s very small for $9.00 just a handful of mix green, one small cucumber slice and 2 cherry tomatoes and small slice of avocado ( very small kids thumb size slice) dressing was to die for but salad was not worth the price, also highly recommended was the tres leche cake that was $6.00 now that’s definitely worth the price. I would not recommend ordering out. Probably best dine in. The food would be nice and hot and fries would probably be crispy. I would probably try the dine in next time. Definitely, not curbside again.

Worst experience of my life and I’m almost 60 years old. I ordered Cobb salad. Almost no bacon and certainly not warm as advertised. Strange cornbread croutons, probably from leftover cornbread sides, had a couple dried fruit that wasn’t supposed to be there, not nearly enough lettuce to meat ratio. Cheddar was clumped up. Ordered the salad tossed but had very little dressing. They did not give extra on the side and it took so long for a server to walk by that I gave up. Drink was awful. Again, worse than anything I’ve ever had. Something was very very wrong there. OJ and vodka hard to mess up. Entire family tried and I insisted the waiter try and he said awful as well. I gave up on the drink and stuck with water. And even that was warm. No ice and poured from a carafe that was not cold. All hot food was cold, not cool, but stone cold. Apparently they don’t know what warmers are. Out of many beers. Had to get Miller Lite that could have been had at home. No Corona, Modelo, Dos Equis, Pacifico, and more. One of our party got beer right away, the other took forever. Mixed up deliver if all three salads, had to remake all of them as our party had already tried them before realizing they were wrong. And my salad came out way after the other two. And it was completely wrong. Was not tossed and had honey mustard dressing rather than blue cheese. So not just delivered way after everyone else, and after the redos but my salad was wrong and one of the others got my salad that they took back even though we were willing to keep it. Only 2 of 7 food orders were correct and they were stone cold as well but family decided to keep and eat them anyway. By the time we got any food at all the two youngest were starving. No discount! No explanation, no apologies. I’d say all this was because they were short staffed but that was clearly not the case. At all. There were what appeared to be two managers. Neither stopped by to ask how everything was or to respond at all. There were many many servers and staff delivering food. Two people delivered the food in fact and they are the ones that delivered all the wrong salads. How hard is it to ask to make sure the right food was delivered to the right customer? They were NOT busy. Will never go back. They didn’t even attempt to make things right. It was a very disappointing two 1/2 hour ordeal. It should have been a max one hour. We only ordered salads...

Fresh ingredients. Atypical flavor profiles. Enormous portions. Great ambience. Friendly and professional waitstaff. What more could you ask for in a restaurant?

I discovered The Tavern a few years ago during a business lunch. That was the first of many visits. Prices are a little higher than average, but they're in line with other restaurants at nearby Clearfork. Also, the portions and food quality definitely justify the premiums.

I love that The Tavern features numerous daily specials. There is a predetermined special entree for each day of the week, along with a daily soup and dessert. Plus, there are several additional off-menu specials most days. Do yourself a favor and order the roasted pork nachos as an appetizer (or as a meal). The pulled pork is moist, tender and mouthwatering. Or enjoy a fresh, hot cast iron skillet cornbread. It's made with real corn, not just some sad cornmeal mix from a box. It's super thick with a warm moist center and a beautiful and tasty top crust.

If you're in the mood for a burger, get the New Mexico burger with roasted onions, a poblano pepper, cheddar and a little chipotle. It's delicious with just the right amount of heat. My absolute favorite entree is the rotisserie pork chop. This thing is a huge double-bone chop cooked to an absolutely perfect medium (or they'll cook it to your preferred temperature), and it's seasoned with a phenomenal salty, peppery rub that's blackened to a perfect bark.

If two or three of your party want the same side, just order one. They come out mounded on the plate. There are five fresh veggie options that fall under the "fresh vegetables" menu item. The options change regularly, and are prepared differently each day. Tonight's Brussels sprouts had caramelized white and purple onions and a bacon balsamic glaze. The fresh green beans included some fresh corn and a dusting of fresh parmesan. The mashed potatoes consist of potatoes, butter and salt, and they're whipped up beautifully.

In addition to the key lime pie, banana cream pie and tres leches which are available every day, I have the most gorgeous slice of German chocolate cake (today's dessert special) in the kitchen calling my name. Time for a big glass of milk!

Give The Tavern a try. I know you'll love it as...

My recent forays into Tavern of Fort Worth, a culinary haven I've visited on two occasions, have resoundingly resonated with excellence. This esteemed establishment consistently delivers superlative dining experiences, etching indelible impressions in my culinary odyssey. Tavern distinguishes itself through an ambiance of sublime tranquility that veers towards the ethereal. It beckons patrons to transcend the mundane, captivating their senses and fostering introspective reverie. The restaurant's consummate mastery in crafting an atmosphere conducive to introspection lends an enchanting dimension to the dining sojourn. In the realm of service, Tavern shines as a paragon of professionalism and unwavering dedication. While I harbor reservations concerning the pervasive American tipping culture, my convictions bend when it comes to Tavern's exceptional staff. Their service eclipses mere expectations, affording every guest a sense of profound appreciation and care throughout their gastronomic sojourn. Turning the spotlight to the culinary realm, Tavern's pièce de résistance is unequivocally the rotisserie chicken, harmoniously paired with cornbread served on a skillet. This gastronomic symphony orchestrates an exquisite palate dance, delivering an unparalleled amalgamation of flavors and textures. The gustatory delight culminates in a crescendo of pleasure that tantalizes the senses. In summation, Tavern consistently evokes superlatives in my gastronomic lexicon. Its ambiance, characterized by transcendent tranquility, coupled with the impeccable service and the gastronomic crescendo of the rotisserie chicken and cornbread, culminates in a dining experience deserving of the highest commendation. I wholeheartedly endorse Tavern as an essential stop for anyone seeking a succinct yet profound culinary voyage. Anticipating further visits with fervent enthusiasm, my memories of Tavern remain etched in the annals...
