To Whom It May Concern, am I getting a refund
I’ve been a loyal Denny’s customer for a long time, and today’s experience at your Fountain Hills location was absolutely unacceptable. I tried calling the store to speak with a manager, but no one is answering, so I want this documented immediately.
Here’s what happened: • When I arrived, I was completely ignored by a heavier-set Mexican woman working the floor. She stayed on the phone for about 10 minutes, letting me stand there without acknowledging me. • An older server I recognized eventually seated me, but she didn’t apologize for the wait. I had to ask for water and even for coffee. • The restaurant wasn’t busy – maybe two tables and one guy at the counter – so there’s no excuse for this.
My order: • 4 over-easy eggs • Extra hashbrowns • 4 sausage links • 4 bacon strips • Sourdough bread
I order this regularly, and it’s usually around $23–24 with tip. Today, the food was cold and awful: hashbrowns tasted burnt and old, sausage tasted stale, and overall quality was terrible.
The service was even worse: • The server never checked on me once. • She didn’t offer refills or ask about my meal. • I had to ask for everything, including water.
The final bill: • She charged me around $44, which is absurd for this order. Then she added something I never ordered – an iced coffee! After removing that, it was still about $36. That’s outrageous. I’ve never paid more than $24 for this same order at any Denny’s.
On top of that: • She refused to accept my AARP card, saying I need a new one that scans. Every other Denny’s honors my card. This is discriminatory – I’m on Medicare and AARP due to a back disability, and being denied a discount I’m entitled to is unacceptable.
I honestly feel like I was overcharged on purpose and treated poorly the entire time. For what I paid, I could have gone to Maggiano’s or Butterfields and had a far better meal.
Denny’s has a responsibility to provide fair pricing, quality food, and basic respect to paying customers. Today, your staff failed completely.
I expect a full refund or a credit for a future visit. Please have a manager contact me as soon as possible.
Thank you, So I received a reply am I going to be getting my money back for the incidents I mean it was very rude service and I was...
Read moreWaited half hour for two sandwiches. Mine before reaching table waitress noticed they put mayo I didn't want. So she brought it back before reaching table. Kudos to her for that. Waited another 5 minutes for sandwich. Sandwich was very thin, and I couldn't taste meat. I had ordered the Cali club sandwich. When I opened sandwich there was one thin slice of Turkey which didn't even touch the corner of bread so they cut two very thin slices of cold cuts in triangle form to fill area without Turkey. Showed the waitress who was shocked by contents and she said she would get manager. Manager was walking by and didn't stop at table just told waitress to comp meal that she was too busy to stop at table. Three times manager was requested to come to table. Finally, I went to prep area for outgoing orders where she was standing talking. She was told I was behind area and when she came over the first words were "you look like you want to fight me." I am 68 5'3 123 lbs. She was maybe in forties,5'2 140-150 lbs. As I told her that was the furthest thought from my mind. I asked her if she would pay $13.99 + tax for the sandwich. She says to me "if I was hungry I would have." Her disrespect was palatable. She took sandwich off bill. At this point the disrespect was very obvious. NEVER DID SHE APOLOGIZE FOR NOT COMING TO TABLE OR FOR HER INCREDIBLE PERFORMANCE IN FRONT OF HER EMPLOYEES. Apparently, she is so secure in her job that Denny's clients aren't important to her. I have been to many Denny's and NEVER LEFT HUNGRY. On the other hand ALWAYS had leftovers. We go to Denny's because of their service and dedication to their clients. By the way, we went there on December 30,2022 at noon. There were maybe 5 tables with clients. No reason for such a delay in service. We have been to other Denny's where there was a wait line and got full meals within 15 minutes. Denny's needs to look into this manager. Will NOT RECOMMEND THIS DENNY'S. MANAGER IS PROBLEM. Saw young waitress being disrespectful to other couple who just wanted to move from table. She left them waiting as she huffed away. Five minutes later came back and sat them at table. Didn't move tableware. Just sat them down and walked away. We left and will...
Read moreDirty. Very dirty. The trash can walking in was the first sign - overflowing. We were greeted right away and the staff was friendly. Several servers wore masks that did not cover their nose, though, ours included. I don't want to sound too crazy, but I had my grandparents (in their 80s) and my daughter who is just over a year with me. Yes, we did choose to go out to breakfast, but it would have been nice to have that extra sense of security by having the staff all wearing their masks appropriately. Back to dirty - the menu had food in the pages. The women's bathroom was GROSS and didn't have any toilet paper. The lady who was in the bathroom with me let them know the toilet paper (and paper towel, as there was no paper towel either) situation, so I went back to my seat and figured I would try again after I ate my breakfast. Twenty minutes later, there was still no toilet paper. I told someone at the front, and they said okay and went on with what they were doing. My grandfather asked for the jalapeños to be taken out of his omelet, but they were in the omelet when it arrived (he ate it anyway and pulled the jalapeños to the side - which should have been a nice cue for the server to take and apologize for the mistake). My grandmother's hush puppies came out over cooked and had to be sent back. It then was WAY too difficult to get a to go box after the check was dropped at the table. I am not a complainer and I even worked as a server/bartender for over ten years, so I know how the food industry works. Everyone is busy, I get it, but we won't be coming back here. I can look past some issues with food- this happens, but some minor fixes by the management (focus on the cleanliness of your bathrooms and make sure your staff are wearing their masks appropriately) would go a LONG way.
That said, my food was fine and the...
