This review is mainly for the boat noodles.
One of my favorite Thai dishes is the boat noodles so of course I had to try it when I heard about this place. Now I will make the drive for good boat noodles but sadly this place just doesn’t cut it.
The restaurant is still doing its soft opening it looks like. The decor , ambience decorations were very nice .
First off, my sister and I walked in and were not greeted at all. We didn’t know if it was order at the counter or seat yourself . We stood for a min and then just sat ourselves. Already annoyed.
We were given menus by a server or host I dunno it was very confusing who’s who. then like a minute or so later a different server comes over and asks if we were ready to order … we just sat down and got menus … I said we needed more time.
We both ordered boat noodles since that’s what they were known for and what we came for and Phuket Thai tea. They brought our food and left . They didn’t give us any napkins , didn’t tell us where the utensils were nothing. I had to grab utensils off from another table . Normally we get condiments(pickled chilis , dried chilis , fish sauce etc) that go with our soup but we didn’t even get offered that. I feel like that’s a given when you order boat noodles.
Phuket thai tea was watery and bitter . Not as flavorful. Would not recommend .
Boat noodles looked delicious . Portion size was decent . $15.99 for pork and $17.99 for beef.
I got the pork and I will say that the pork meat and meatballs were the best thing about the soup. First off , I didn’t get the smell of boat noodles like you would normally. It didn’t taste like boat noodles. The dried peppers they added were toasted so much that it overpowered the whole soup. The more I ate, the more I disliked it but I wanted to finish it because I didn’t wanna waste money and food. It’s got that vinegar/ coconut aftertaste and that I didn’t enjoy.
When it was time to pay, the server came over with the credit card machine where they stand there with it and you pay and you “tip” them as they watch . I...
Read moreAbsolutely phenomenal Thai dining experience—again! This was my 2nd visit & I had to bring my hubby to try it. I ordered the Spicy Thai Seafood Noodle with Lime Broth—a powerhouse bowl brimming with fish balls, fish cakes, shrimp, squid, crispy wonton & egg. I chose the thin noodles, which soaked up every drop of the flavorful, rich broth. Absolutely plentiful & deeply satisfying.
My hubby went bold with the Spicy Shredded Chicken Noodle, also in the zesty lime broth. He upped the ante with the super spicy level and paired it with Udon noodles. The shredded chicken was tender & moist & the spice level packed a punch!
What really made the experience shine was the exceptional service from Pat. From the moment we walked in, Pat greeted us with a big, warm smile & genuine enthusiasm. She guided us through the menu, checked on us several times w/o being intrusive & made sure we were comfortable throughout the meal. When she noticed my husband sweating from the spicy level he chose, she immediately offered extra broth base w/o us even asking—that’s attention to detail. She even joked with us, creating such a friendly & welcoming vibe that made us feel right at home. Her positive energy truly elevated the entire experience.
On my first visit, I tried their famous Seafood Noodle with Pink Soup or Yen Ta Fo. The lightly sweet, tangy & savory broth is unique as it is addictive. It's easily my favorite & a must-try for anyone new.
Bonus tip: Follow them on Instagram & show them—you’ll get a free small Thai iced tea! Such a fun perk.
The atmosphere has a retro 70's decor, the food is top-tier & the service? Absolutely over the top. Pat alone is reason enough to return. Can’t wait to come back again! More...
Read moreAs of this review there were 22 google reviews that I went off of to try this place due to majority of comments praising their boat noodle. We came about 1.5hr before closing, I came strictly for the boat noodle while my table also order other dishes as well. This review is for the BOAT NOODLE only. 3 out of 5 at best, here's why: The BAD So oily/greasy Way too much dried chili flakes and seeds (look at the pic) A little too sour for boat noodle Spicy level is mild-mediumish, I even asked the server beforehand if this is THAI spicy or american spicy and she said THAI spicy...not even close. The GOOD their thin noodle (pho) is cooked perfectly, chewy, springy and slight sweetness to it The white meat ball, not sure what it's made out of, is really good. Fluffy, slight chewy, soft.
I can see why this place is pack even to closing, but as far as the best boat noodle in OC....yeah no. I'm prejudice because I've had Pa Ord many time and they are the standard which I measure all boat noodle against. Overall a good place to come if you like the wait and the crowd, their other dishes was ok according...
