Being on the younger side of history I didn't have the privilege of having had it in it's hey day. I can say I definitely see where the Del Taco roots came from. We had a few items, because this first trip was really just to taste as much as I could. So here goes!
Ortega burger - good size, bold chile flavor and not bogged down with a bunch of salt and over seasoning. It tasted fresh and delicious.
Classic beef taco - a perfectly fried, crunchy shell. Broke apart into what you would see as a tortilla chip. The beef was flavorful, thick and perfectly complimented the tomato and lettuce. Again, this tasted very fresh. The hot sauce served with it was also great with a good punch to it.
Bun taco - now this is original, and tasty! The bun held the ground beef in a perfect little pocket of happiness. The white sauce and fresh veggies on top made this truly great.
French fries - while they more or less resemble a traditional crinkle fry, I am almost certain they cut these in house fresh and fry them that way. The fried outside is crisp, bit not overdone, leaving the inside nice and fluffy.
All in all, I am super happy I went here. If say everyone should try it atleast once. I know I will be back!
PS - The customer service was fantastic!
