One star is one too many. It was horrible experience my cousin came from Montana and wanted to eat some nice Mexican food. Service was terrible waitress never came back to the table had to ask a numerous times for items. My cousin ordered a cheese crisp took 35 minutes to get it. She ordered it with green chili informed the waitress that it was wrong she said we can bring a green chili to pour over it, which at that time it was cold is absolutely ridiculous and asinine. Ask for a new order with green chili 40 minutes later never came. As for chips that never came. Make sure you check the price of the wine. It was a house wine which they charge $10 a glass for. As for the cheese crisp they made it with mozzarella cheese that is usually put on a pizza! Who in the hell puts mozzarella cheese on a cheese crisp? Ask to speak to the manager the manager came over apologized and said we will give you a discount on your total bill. Which we said okay, the amount given was only 10%? They charged the full price for the cheese crisp/pizza. Unbelievable! Will never go there again and we'll be telling others not to go there either to go to different Mexican food...
Read moreThis Mom-and-Pop Mexican Resto great for stopping in and getting no frills but very good food. While visiting Tubac recently we decided to give them a shot and totally enjoyed our meals. You should try their fantastic Tortilla Soup – unlike most, the broth is clear you can smell the aroma of chicken and all the parts come separate for you to put together into the bowl. I hadn’t had Chiles Rellenos in a while so ordered them, I was pleasantly surprised at how good they were. They really know how to stuff Oaxaca cheese into those Poblanos. And the egg batter was just right – no overkill like many places. I discovered that they pan fry those critters as opposed to baking them like I do! It is made for a delish plate. My wife decided on their Tampiqueña grilled Skirt Steak along with chicken tamales – delish, delish, delish. The skirt steak was perfectly done, as were the terrific tamales. Oh, by the way, they don’t serve refried beans here, the rice always comes with a magnificent serving of extraordinary ala Charra beans – terrific! Very good service and good food are two perfect reasons for...
Read moreThe cheese enchiladas were perhaps the worst I've ever had. The tortillas were filled with Mozzarella (no, not even Queso Oaxaca). They were covered in the red sauce then covered with more Mozzarella and broiled to melt the cheese. The cheese on top had a lot of browning (too long under the broiler) and was beginning to separate (or protein/fat separation) and had brown/black spots all over it. The sauce was very unauthentic. It was basically slightly diluted canned tomato paste seasoned with a bit of commercial "chili powder". After delivering our food, our server didn't return until the meal was over. He wasn't overwhelmingly busy - we were there for lunch at about 11:20am and the place was pretty much empty. The final crowning blow was an unadvertised 3.99% fee added to our check for paying with a credit card. I'd be very embarrassed to run a restaurant serving such low quality food. We were left wondering how this place stays in business. Perhaps it's a front for money laundering? Go see for yourself if you must. My review is actually straight forward and honest - not...
