First time in, unlikely to be back.
It took around 15 minutes to prepare a half pound of brisket and a 1/4 pound of jalapeños sausage in a nearly empty restaurant where the majority of diners were drinking or had their meals.
I’ve worked in kitchens before. I can understand a busy night. But this wasn’t close to that. It seems the kitchen doesn’t care.
And it’s not a guess, as when we got the brisket is was dry. It’s clear that was easily left out in a warmer bin for 4 hours. If you get a bag of jack links beef jerky, you’ll find the same quality and texture.
Jalapeño sausage was also dry, left out and cold. The fatty deposits congealed. Again, grab a jack links beef stick and you’ll be in ball park of where we are at.
In short, $35 bucks later, I can’t find a reason to return and drop a few hundred in a night.
And all of this is a shame as the look and feel of the restaurant almost makes me feel I’m back in Texas. The front hostess was very charming and welcoming and was the best experience of the restaurant.
But BBQ isn’t difficult to crack. I’ve noticed the majority of positive reviews show and feature burgers and other platters. But clearly whoever is managing the BBQ product is lost.
And it’s frustrating because the smoke and spices are in the ballpark of GOOD ASS BBQ. But the temperature and moisture are off.
My wrap up is , try a burger , be careful with the BBQ
Update: —————————————————— Went to bed with a sour stomach from yesterday’s meal. Woke up with diarrhea. Definitely won’t be back.

Read moreDining in here is great. The staff are friendly, the food is good. But don’t order takeout. We ordered several pounds of various meats, and a full rack of ribs costing $40. Half the rack came completely dried out and overdone. The meat literally made cracking noises when separating the bones—it was inedible. I called and requested a refund on just half the rack; the manager was very apologetic and said he would issue a refund, but never did; I waited 10 days but no credit was issued. So I called again, ace the manager said he would refund the entire rack. Again, he never did. So if you’re going to dine here, just eat in, don’t get carry out. Too bad, I was hoping they’d be as good a carry-out option as Fountain BBQ was, we never had an issue with them. This was our first carry-out experience with The Lazy Butcher, and it will be our last. We’ll be buying most of our meat from The Evergreen Market henceforth.
Edit to reply to owner:
Well I don’t know who you called, but it wasn’t me. No voicemails from you, no calls from you in my call history. I will give you the benefit of the doubt that you called someone, but it wasn’t me.
Thank you for the offer, if we come back for dinner or to pick up meat I’ll ask at...
