My family recently had an opportunity to sample the flavors at Lolley's and we were thoroughly impressed. I could tell lots of love and attention to detail had gone into crafting the best ice cream I've eaten in a very long time.
The biggest surprise to me was how they restrained the sweetness just enough to make it tasty, but not sickeningly sweet. This allows you to savor the other flavors and textures of each bite, and to eat without going into a jittery sugar coma. Besides this, the gluten-free, artificial-free, and dairy free options convinced me Lolley's has made ice cream into a health food that's actually delicious!
Another aspect was how each flavor felt gourmet but also nostalgic. Banana cream pie, vanilla bean, cookie dough, graham slam... Like eating a warm hug from a sweet friend on a cool day. How did they replicate the way your tongue feels after you eat an Oreo? How did they make a creamy Ande's mint? How did Grandma's strawberry freezer jam get to Monument? Why am I transported back to the booth at our favorite Mexican place where middle school me always sipped a virgin piña colada with my beef burrito? How do they scoop summer from the lemon berry tub? How do I feel more sophisticated and also more giddy while licking Almond Milk Latte?
Ice cream is truly a gift from above, and Lolley's reminds me to be thankful for my blessings ❤️....
Read moreLolley's Ice Cream Shop is truly great place to visit! Their ice cream is homemade and doesn't have any of the preservatives and other stuff that store bought ice cream usually has. They have a unique offering of flavor combinations as well as just simple chocolate or vanilla. Their staff is amazing, friendly, and always provides an old-fashioned type of customer service that is a rare quality these days among businesses. Their shop is clean and well kept. They also have a really cool and fun back yard area behind the shop where families and friends can play games together like cornhole, tiki toss, and other fun outdoor games for all ages. Their ice cream does cost just a little more than just buying some at the grocery store, but you're not only paying for the ice cream, you're paying for the great ambience and family environment that this special place offers. Anyone who has run a small business would understand this. I would absolutely make this a destination to visit with your family or friends this summer. You won't be...
Read moreI don't think the negative reviews are absurd. I thought a lot about writing this one and read quite a few before I did. I noticed many of them mention, "clean", "family friendly", "nice place", "friendly staff", etc... and all that is true. In fact, that is why I am not giving it 1 star. Where's any talk of the ice cream itself in the reviews? You know, the actual real reason I would go there over Baskin Robbins or more locally, Rock House in Palmer Lake. Is the ice cream good? No. I've been twice now. I wanted to give it a second chance before I reviewed and frankly the second time was as big of a waste of my $3.25 as the first. It's flavor is dull, lifeless a little watery. I tried Key Lime Pie (bland) and Graham Slam (iced milk). The size of the scoop is minimal too. It bums me out because having a hang out in Monument is greatly needed and I am sure, for that, it will do just fine. But if you want flavorful ice cream there are many...
