Madera's Grill and Cantina — Restaurant in Four Corners States

So my family and I came in tonight for dinner. Atmosphere seemed good and we were hungry. Our server was attentive and polite. Orders were taken and after a few minutes, our food arrived. Our little got the Mac n Cheese with fruit (grapes & pineapple). The grapes and pineapple looked expired, with some pieces of pineapple being almost completely brown. My wife got a side salad instead of fries, and from the look of the lettuce, they either freeze it or it sits in the walk in by the door. That wasn’t the worst part though. Madera’s charges a 3.99% Inflation Fee on your bill. Yes, you read that right, an INFLATION FEE. Like we as consumers aren’t already paying for our own inflation?! The worst part is that the fee IS NOT posted on their menus or on any entrances/exits. So I would not recommend Madera’s as it seems very shady and unsanitary in regards to their produce and fruits. Honestly the worst places to eat ever. Staff was not nice. Ordered the 12 oz t-bone rare. A rare steak should have some sear on it. It did not. It looked like it was boiled in water. So We politely asked if a sear could be put on it, the guy said he would do it but it won’t be rare. I said fine. It came back still almost zero sear on it. So politely asked for something different as it looked boiled in water and look wrong. When we got the bill they tried to charge us for the t-bone even thought we sent it back. The guy blamed us saying it was our fault. He took off the the price even though I did not eat the steak. Madera’s has become our local hangout. The food is reasonably priced and the crispy rellenos is one of our go to dishes. The trivia on Monday nights is a blast! The hosts are very engaging and the people who play are a lot of fun. We’ve never had bad service there from any of the employees. Everyone is very friendly and attentive, but I do need to give Dylan a special shout out. He is a fantastic bartender, always engaging with everyone, remembers what people like to order, and willing to make fun creations.
