I would hardly consider myself an expert of Pho, as this was one of my first bowls of the classic Vietnamese staple. I only knew of the restaurant because of a delivery I had made from them. The staff was very friendly and packed everything for delivery in boxes, which, as a delivery driver, I greatly appreciated. Soup delivery can be quite a pain and mess when improperly packed by the restaurant. The restaurant itself was clean and had elegant design touches throughout. There was a petite wet bar near the back of the dining area, in a small walk around alcove, with a selection of liquors to choose from, if you ate so inclined. I checked out the menu while there and saw they had brisket and rare steak pho which enticed me to come back.
On my return trip to the restaurant, the manager greeted me, and welcomed me back, having recognized me from the pick up I made. I wad actually quite impressed he recognized me, and I already felt quite welcome. I was seated and served by a very friendly waiter, who wad able to answer all my questions about their pho, including whether or not I could order it gluten free and without cilantro if desired, since my father is allergic to these. He assured me that I could, as each ingredient is added separately apparently.
I ordered the large bowl of brisket and rare steak pho, which came out shortly after, alongside a plate of very fresh greens: lime slices, fresh cilantro, fresh basil twigs, jalapenos, and possibly a few others, beautifully arranged to create an artistic quite athletically appealing look. Even the bowl of pho seemed to be carefully arranged to create a soupy work of art, as you can see in the photos I shared. The waiter patiently answered my "pho newbie" questions about what the plate was for and what each item was.
I added a bit of lime juice and basil to the bowl and tasted the broth. At first taste, it seemed like it would be bland, but I found my taste buds had deceived me. As the broth, noodles, herbs, and meat simmered and seeped in the broth, their flavours began to disseminate and mingle together created a wonderfully earthy flavor that became quite exceptional. The ratio of noodles to meat seemed perfect, and I never found myself without the ample supply of tender beef medallions in my spoon or chopsticks (both of which are provided).
The waiter came several times throughout to refill my drink and check on me, always friendly quick to serve. He was able to answer each question, and on those he was unsure would have the manager answer for me (many about the allergens, and food contents).
Although the bowl was massive, I found I just couldn't stop eating it, and soon devoured the whole thing. I was pleasantly "stuffed" and satisfied with my meal, and felt I had gotten a great value on the meal. For right around $10 I was able to dine on a exceptionally delicious meal, where both my stomach and wallet left full.
I highly recommend this Pho restaurant. You will be delighted with the quality of food, service...
Read moreSo this was my first experience with this place. I ordered veggie pho with no tofu to be delivered via grubhub. I got my food and noticed that they didn’t give me noodles in my pho. When I called about it I tried to explain for five minutes that they did not give me noodles and the girl just kept talking about “you said you didn’t want tofu so I gave you veggies and noodles” to which I replied multiple times that she did NOT give me the noodles! Then she tried to say I’m supposed to ask for noodles when I order pho. I was dumbfounded and extremely confused. I explained what pho is and she finally handed the phone off to a manager I’d assume. He then tried to say the same thing- you ordered veggie pho no tofu we didn’t put tofu. I explained that they got that part right but they FORGOT THE NOODLES!! He FINALLY understood but it took me having to talk to him like an idiot which was crappy because he’s NOT an idiot they just would not actually LISTEN to what I was saying. So they delivered noodles to me 40 minutes later. The food is good when it’s you know... actually pho and not just $20 for a cup of broth and ten pieces of broccoli and cauliflower. I’m pretty disappointed. I know language barrier played a SMALL part in getting my complaint across but she used the word no multiple times and used the word noodles multiple times so I know she knows what those two words mean so I have no clue why she wasn’t understanding me when I said 17 different times that “I have no noodles, you did not give me noodles, NO noodles” I was worried they were going to throw a bunch of tofu in my pho, I didn’t expect to literally not get noodles. If you go, I’d recommend dining in so if there’s a mistake it can be...
Read moreThis place is under new management, and things have changed...
For a long time, this was our favorite place. Best pho in town. Not anymore, sadly.
A few weeks ago, we showed up and found a sign saying "closed for a family emergency." (Hope everything is OK with the original owners)
This weekend, we saw they were open again, and were excited to go back.
It's not the same place. Entirely new owners, menu, and food. And while there were some good points, it is NOT the same business.
The #1 most important thing in pho is the broth, and this is why we won't be back...
The broth is SWEET. Like they added large amounts of sugar to it. I have never had pho like this before, and it was NOT pleasant.
The people were friendly, the renovations look nice, and the plate of herbs and vegetables was VERY fresh and good. No more fish sauce on the tables (I love adding fish sauce)
Next the meat. Seems a bit lower quality and less fresh. The brisket doesn't have the nice fatty pieces you want. The Combination pho, what I get, adds meatballs, but removes the tendon and some of the other "weird" pieces.
Overall, this is an entirely different restaurant. Our favorite place is gone, and we'll be looking for somewhere else to go next time.
Some of these things would be tolerable, but the sweet broth is just NOT good.
I don't mean to write a bad review, but if you've been to this place in the past, know that it is NOT the same restaurant at all anymore,...
