Colorado has a new halal Lebanese 🇱🇧 restaurant for your shawarma cravings in Aurora, CO! Newly opened 📍Sumac Street is the perfect new go-to shawarma spot. The ambiance is so unique with their wall paintings and the hospitality is so warm and welcoming! It makes you feel like you’re in the Middle East ready to dive into some amazing food! We tried out their chicken shawarma, chicken taouk and gyro sandwiches. All of them were loaded and lathered with delicious sauce. They are wrapped up in the softest and lightest saj bread that gets toasted for an amazing crunch. 🌯 Their beef shawarma bowl was tender, flavorful and it was a perfect meal on itself with the hummus, pita bread, salad, sauces and rice. 🥙 At a Mediterranean restaurant, definitely need to try some of their drinks - rose hibiscus and mint lemonade went really well with these entrees that you can easily share as well🍹 And of course to end the night with a sweet treat, we enjoyed the caramel crème milk cake 🍰 Head to Sumac Street to try out their shawarma! You’ll be wanting to go back again! 7950 E Mississippi Ave, Unit A, Denver, CO 80247 #coloradoeats #halal #halalfood #denverfoodscene #lebanesefood @Sumac Street Lebanese Grill

The chicken shawerma is the best you will find in CO. Hummus was amazing. The fries and falafel could be better but not too bad . It seemed they were understaffed as no one was in the dinning area but it is a new business and I think they have the potential to be outstanding. We will definitely come again. Update: we went back yesterday and I was pleased to see their fries are so much better. They have a system where you serve yourself which is fine with us it is an upgrade. The issue this time was the food was sooooo dry . The chicken shawerma was not like this last time. It was so dry and hard to swallow . The garlic sauce was not spread all over the sandwich and was just at the end. I would appreciate if they added garlic sauce on the side … The bread was way too much in comparison with the chicken. They over pressed it so it was just dry. The baba ganooj was good . The falafel was better cooked than last time. I love they added spicy sauce it was good. I am trying to give them some time to perfect this place but seriously consistency is key. I am very optimistic this place has great potential.

⚠️‼️I honestly don’t recommend this place at all ⚠️ ⛔️ I ordered shawarma sandwiches at 5:27 PM, and they weren’t ready until around 5:50 PM — which is way too long for a simple shawarma order. When I finally got the sandwiches, the chicken pieces inside were large chunks, not sliced from the shawarma spit as they should be. The taste was terrible, and it definitely didn’t feel like real shawarma. Because of that, I couldn’t even finish the food and asked for a refund, which they did provide. Overall, the customer service was slow, and the quality of the food was extremely poor.

When we entered the establishment, nearly all the tables were filled which made me feel optimistic. After observing some more, I realized that almost all of the tables minus a few had no food in front of them. Perhaps something I should've paid more attention to because it took nearly an hour for our food to arrive in front of us.

Just as we're about to order, the cashier informed us that they only had chicken shawarma left which was perfect because that's what we wanted. We ordered two chicken shawarma sandwiches meals that came with fries and a hummus appetizer that came with pita bread.

While we waited, we watched at least two other tables that had come after us get their food before us. Of those two tables, one table did not have their complete order and had to let the staff know to receive their full order (they had forgotten the hummus).

We ordered our food at 2:36pm and our full order arrived at 3:28pm. Noting "full order" because they had first delivered the sandwiches, hummus, and pita bread but forgetten our fries. After 30 minutes of waiting with no food, we checked in and they said the food was being made right then. After 45 minutes, our original cashier came by our table to see what we were waiting on, told us the food was coming soon, and took our receipt that was waiting on the table.

Finally, the food arrived after approximately 52 minutes. The chicken shawarma sandwiches themselves were good. It was flavorful and the sauce complemented well. The wrap itself was nicely crisp. They were slices of pickles inside, which was nice because the sandwiches became a little heavy towards the end. We wished there were some veggies that would lighten the meal up a bit. That's why the ketchup that came with the fries were necessary, to lighten up the meal. The hummus was a little bland, no strong flavors of anything. Fries were nice and crispy.

When we finished our meal, the table behind had their food made incorrectly too. Something about the wrong protein made or that they ordered no rice for their plate. I guess by that time, the kitchen was able to prep and cook the additional items on the menu.

The food itself was good, but the service was unbearably slow. Food review aside, the interior design was very cute. The lighting resembled skylight and the mural on the walls made it cozy.

We give benefit of the doubt that because Sumac Street recently opened, they'll implement the similar feedback other customers have left. Nonetheless, thank you Sumac Street...
