This place was a true treat in every way! The atmosphere was pure nostalgia, the experience was great. First of all, you could choose to park and go in to sit down and eat, or you could park in the 'drive-up' side and they would bring your food to your car, like the good old days.

We chose to get the food in our car and it was wonderful. The food cane out quickly and was fresh and hot. I had the grilled chicken breast sandwich and it was perfectly cooked and juicy, not dried out. I had cheese curds as a side instead of fries. I must say that being a lover of food, aka a 'foodie', these were the best I've ever had. First, they were battered and not breaded. The batter tasted like a buttermilk recipe. They were a light batter, not heavy. They had just the right crunch and the curds were hot and melty: definitely in the 'wow' zone.

My wife had the fish sandwich and she said it was good. She also had the onion rings, which were battered, not breaded and the onions were not slimy and yucky, they were fresh, hot and had a good crunch to them.

The root beer is what they are famous for and they did live up to their reputation and then some. It tastes very different and much better than the same brand canned or in a 2 liter bottle that you can buy...

I’ve been coming here since I was just a little kid. I don’t live very far from this place so I come and get the root beer here when I am in Frankfort and sometimes come from my place just to get root beer and eat here. The food and service is always excellent here. The curbside service can’t be beat and you can even have the food at your car like back in the 50’s. The theme of this place is very neat. The jukebox works very well. The prices are very good. The root beer is the best on the planet. You can buy the root beer by the gallon. You might have to wait a little longer for getting service and to get your food when they are busy but it is very well worth the wait. If they get your order wrong for some really strange reason just let them know and they will get it taken care of. Very family friendly. A must stop place if you are in the area. You will always see more good reviews than bad reviews of this place if you are reading the reviews. The locals love it here too. We have brought at least 300 people here between family and friends and they have all loved it and always stop in if they are in the area. I give them two thumbs up and five stars because they have earned it from someone who is extremely skeptical when it comes...

I love A&W but the last time I came in Dianna K was kinda of rude. I could tell she was trying to be funny and make conversation but it came off terrible. She was making fun of me. Even after I sat down she wouldn’t stop. Then when it came to pay my friend and I split the bill, Dianna immediately came over about 2 minutes after dropping off the bill and insinuated that we weren’t going to pay because one of our payments hadn’t loaded yet, let me remind you this was about 2 minutes after dropping the bill off and we weren’t even looking like we were leaving we were still sitting and talking. I honestly think she did this because we are young adults and was profiling us. She then told us right after she walked over checked to see if we were paying and it went through that “some people just aren’t really honest” while hinting at that it’s young people like us. I love the food and the environment but this whole interaction just threw me off and made me quite...

We heard their breakfast was Frankfort's best kept secret so we had to try it. If we splurge for breakfast it's usually to Birch and Maple and of course, their's is fabulous. We both had corned beef hash at $11.00 each, coffee was $2.50. Came with 2 eggs and choice of toast. The rye bread was very mild and lacked substance. The eggs were perfectly cooked but the corned beef, pretty salty. They, like most restaurants, were short staffed so the service was slow but our waitress had a great attitude. Prices weren't far below a much superior breakfast. If every penny counts, go there, otherwise there are much better choices for your money.

7 adults for supper on a Sunday evening in July. Seated without a wait. The atmosphere is definitely nostalgic if you're of a certain age, but it looks to have not had any renovation in decades. Our server was kind and helpful. The food and root beer was delicious and freshly made. The cheese curds are fantastic, and the root beer floats are, of course, fantastic. The prices, though, seem exorbitant for fast food. We had a good experience, but probably would not return without a bank loan.

There aren't many left but A&W is still a great place to get a coney and a good glass of root beer. We stopped in for a quick bite on our way back home from Traverse City, traveling the M22 route. Service was fast and our server was friendly. I got 2 coney's and a root beer, my son had a root beer float. They're messy, but absolutely worth it. The extra napkins were definitely appreciated. I stop in here a few times a year in my travels north. Talk about nostalgia 😊
