Dairy Queen Grill & Chill — Restaurant in Frankfort

The most incompetent staff I’ve ever encountered. Tried to order three soft serves in cups to go. The guy taking our order had no idea what he was doing. We tried to first order a twist (vanilla/chocolate). He started entering something only to tell us a few minutes later that they don’t have a twist. Okay, vanilla then, on to the next item which was chocolate, only to hear ‘wait slow down, I can’t handle this’. Still confused about ‘in cups’, he had to go ask someone else for help. Finally after getting first item in we try next item again (chocolate) he tells us ‘oh we don’t have any chocolate’. So I order vanilla sundae with hot fudge to go. Finally get full order in and pay - not only am I charged for the hot fudge sundae, but he charged extra for the hot fudge!!! Ordeal not over yet - had to wait for literally about ten minutes for three sundaes, and after saying multiple times the order was ‘to go’ - they came out without lids, not bagged and spoons sticking in the Ice cream. Told the person who brought them out that they were to go and asked for lids - guy says okay, but he goes around back and starts doing other things. Waited a few minutes and asked again for lids only to be told ‘they’re coming’. Another minute or two and someone else brings out lids. Horrible, horrible experience. How does an DQ not have chocolate soft serve?! And the floor was sticky too! It...

I just stopped by here at 8:45 and checked hours. Dining room closed at 8:00 PM and drive through closes at 9:00 PM. Drove up to the box to place my order and was rudely told “Just so you know, we only have drinks. We’re not serving food right now”. I only wanted a blizzard and again, the drive through was supposed to be open until 9:00 so I said, “I only wanted ice cream”, and was met with silence on the other end. After a short wait for a response, I said, “And your drive through is supposed to be open until 9:00.” Then I drove away. In my humble opinion and extensive restaurant experience, if a dining area (to include drive through) is open until 9:00, the full menu should be available until that time. Cleaning for the next shift takes place throughout the day and after the dining areas close. If that’s how Dairy Queen employees at this location treat paying customers, I will not return. A blender, some ice cream, and a candy bar...

Update: the location mentioned is still struggling with timely service. The food is good but not worth the wait. I interned with McDonald's while in college (my degree is Hotel, Restaurant, & Institutional Mgmt) so I feel that all fast food restaurants should also strive for the quicker service. (In case one wonders, yes, I do still work in the hospitality industry).

Original post: Should possibly give two stars, or one, but the food is good and employees are nice. The biggest issue here is their lack of speed...aka sitting in drive thru for 20 minutes or more for only 4 or 5 cars. It is really sad! At least the guy at the window apologized. This is a multi-visit issue, not a once in a while issue. My background is food service & hospitality and I find this very appalling.
