Based on my most recent experience there ( March 2023), I will not return. First, in the past, if a customer sat at a table, a server would always be pleasant and accommodating. On my last meal there, this was far from the case. My friend and I went to the counter to order. When my friend asked if there was a fee charged to use a credit card, the young woman said there was...then asked about a fee for a debit card transaction, and the so- called manager said that the business charged a "very small fee" for a debit card transaction. When I pointed out that charging such a fee is illegal, I was met with a dirty, lingering look. FRANKLIN LAKES PIZZA, check your business practices. Then, my friend and I decided to eat at a table. As we were waiting for our food to arrive, a group of about 12 boys were seated. Their table became louder and louder ( think Chuck E Cheese atmosphere on steroids). I quietly brought this to the attention of a girl working at the counter and she just looked at me.( she was supposedly the manager). When another worker came to check on how we liked our food, I again mentioned the extremely loud table, and the "manager's" answer was that " they did book the room." There was no apology, no show of understanding, but she did say that she would speak to them. No one did. I went over to one of the fathers to tell him my frustration, and the parents, tried, unsuccessfully, to have their kids behave in a semi- civilized manner. I used to live in the area, but now, when I return for pizza, I will head over to Uncle Louie's. I won't spend a dime where my business and opinion is not valued. Not sure if there was a change in ownership... On a final note, we did like our pizza but the service soured the...
Read moreEdit in response to the owner: I don’t have many additional details, but I’ve been ordering the same item for 15 years, and over the past year, the quality has noticeably declined. The buffalo chicken stromboli used to be filled end to end, but now the filling is concentrated only in the middle, leaving the ends as plain dough. There also used to be a better balance of chicken and cheese. Recently, it’s been mostly cheese with just a few small pieces of chicken. I could actually count how many bits of chicken were in there.
As for the cannoli, something seemed off. It had a strange chemical taste and smelled like it had been near bleach or cleaning solution, almost as if the cannoli had been placed on a freshly wiped surface and absorbed the scent.
I’ve been coming to Franklin Lakes Pizza since I was a kid, but unfortunately, it’s just not the same anymore. Like so much in foodservice these days, the quality has gone downhill. I always order the buffalo chicken stromboli, but the last few times it’s been overloaded with cheese and barely had any chicken. For the price, it’s just not worth it to get a few bites of actual filling.
One time I even ordered a cannoli, and it tasted like it had been sitting on a counter sprayed with cleaning product. That was really disappointing.
After years of being a loyal customer, I won’t be...
Read moreWe're long time patrons, My family orders from Franklin Lakes Pizza once or twice a week, I often advocate for the restaurant with friends and family. The sandwiches, pizza, entrees and salads are delicious. For those rare downer dishes, it's usually fried food related. More specifically, the calamari is overcooked, calamari can be tricky and I would not be writing a review if the calamari had some degree of chewiness, even upscale establishments struggle with same. At the very least, the calamari should not be tough/dry, It takes minutes/seconds to cook, it's an easy fix. Today, we had an issue with the fried onion rings, looked very burnt, yet soggy. These are not expensive dishes, am not losing any sleep over it, Mistakes happen all the time, I don't want to offend anyone by double checking everything before I pay for it. To post pictures of these exceptions would be punitive for a place that is often first-rate for...
