Douglass Pizza & Grill — Restaurant in Franklin Township

May 23, 2020, 5:45PM. Contacted via internet and ordered a pepperoni pizza and salad. Paid with a credit card. Was told pick up in 15 minutes. When I arrived, pizza had not even been put in the oven yet!!! Was told 5 minutes (you can't make a pizza in 5 minutes). 45 minutes later I walk out with my pizza (wait... it gets WORSE!). Open box when I get home and:

1. there is HALF the normal amount of pepperoni
2. there is 1/3 the normal amount of marinara sauce
3. the pizza is oblong not round
4. the crust around the outer edge is 2 inches wide instead of a half inch wide
5. the entire center of the pie, a round area of about 4 inches across, is SOUP... PIZZA SOUP.... I have been eating pizza for 60 years and this was the absolute WORST pizza I have ever had! Wait! It gets even WORSE! The owner/operator/manager (whoever) gave permission for a couple of BEGGARS to HAWK customers going in and out of the restaurant for monetary donations for a supposedly charity food distribution scam. I wanted to cancel the credit card payment, go back, and throw the pizza through the door but instead I swallowed my anger and meditated on the virtues of patience, tolerance, and restraint of tongue. HOWEVER... I will NEVER spend another penny in that restaurant even if it is the only place in the county selling pizza. AND, I will make sure I let everyone I know about my negative experience. I'm sick and tired of having to cut restaurants and stores a break over bad service, slow service, and just plain BAD service with them all using Covid 19 as an excuse. If you are going to charge me FULL PRICE for a service and an item, then give me FULL SERVICE and the item that I am paying for... is that too much to ask? PS: the...

EDIT: the owner replies 10 MONTHS LATER and expects me to call you? How do you know what staff did 10 months ago? I called back that night and was told what I said below. When the people who cooked the food take no accountability for the food safety issue brought to their attention that night, and the the owner replied to the review 10 months later, and you want me to call you to make it right? Way too little to late. And how dare you imply that I didn’t communicate properly. You didn’t reply to this review for 10 months! Really? I wish I could give negative stars for incompetence which obviously trickled down.

Original review: I’m completely disgusted. This is our first time ever ordering and we will not again because of food safety issues and poor customer service. Apparently if you cook a Stromboli in a 400 degree oven, there is “no way the inside could be raw”. As you can see in the images, my veggie Stromboli (no cheese because I’m allergic) is completely raw inside. I also received an overly spicy sauce when I requested marinara to dip in. The fact that the man who answered phone was adamant that the dough could not be raw because of the oven temperature is rude and inconsiderate. Why would I not want to eat my dinner? I should have checked the reviews before trying a new place....

I’ve been coming here since I was a kid and usually the guys there and service is amazing, BUT there is a young, tall, and slim Indian male that works there and wears glasses who is INCREDIBLY rude. Whenever I approach the counter he immediately has a very disgusted look on his face and acts as if he doesn’t want to serve me or that my presence bothers him. He also never greets me when I come in there. One time he got visibly annoyed that I brought something while he was recreationally talking to another (Indian) male customer. I feel he is racist especially towards black/mixed/darker skinned people. Sometimes when I see him in there I purposely don’t come in because of his condescending and disrespectful mannerisms. Other than his awful customer service, the REST OF the staff is very friendly and the owner is great :) That guy for sure needs...
