I’m posting reviews all 2024. So we had a reservation originally set for 6:30 for 25 people (including children). We were coming here for my brothers 30th birthday. They called and changed our appointment twice but we refused to let them change it a third so it was set for 7:30 because there is children as well. Most of the party arrived a little before 7:30 and we were informed that there would be a 30 minute wait…..ON A RESERVATION?! The staff said because the party before us is running over their time. And I get it because people like to sit around and chat. They came to us at 7:45 and said the table was being cleaned, eventually they sat us at 8:15. 30 minutes to clean a table? But alright fine. We ate that. At this point, the whole party was in attendance with the exception of one. We ordered drinks, both alcoholic and non, and I ordered a sushi roll which was delicious. We noticed the party that was seated after us was getting aggravated because of the waiting, we understood but also hoped they wouldn’t be serviced before us because we got there first. After about an hour of sitting, we went and checked what the hold up was. In conclusion, the chefs didnt come out until close to 10 and let’s keep in mind there were at least 5/6 children in attendance. They were becoming hangry and tired. Also let’s keep in mind they close at 11 and this is hibachi. The fact that the whole time we were sitting and waiting, not one person came and communicated with us ANYTHING. I understand if this particular night was abnormally busy for them and they might’ve possibly been understaffed but that’s the type of things you have to inform people, especially a party so large and with kids. Being as though the chefs didnt make their appearance until 10, and the children were getting upset, we decided to get up and walk out. In the midst of everyone walking out, one of the chefs tried to gas light us saying we were only waiting for ten minutes. When in fact we’ve been waiting since 7:30. That is unacceptable and even though I don’t live in New Jersey anymore I will make sure anybody I know will not visit this establishment. Atmosphere got 4 starts primarily because the music was karaoke style and we could pick the music ourselves. Otherwise, it was unprofessional and...
Read morePlace is AWFUL. I had the unfortunate experience of dining at this location, TWICE, one year apart just to ensure my experience the first time wasn't just an "off-day" for the restaurant. To my dismay, my experience the second time around was even WORSE. Let's start with the customer service, there wasnt any. Walked in w a mid-sized group for hibatchi which sent all of us holding on to the walls to avoid falling. The entire dining room floor was left glazed with a silicone like cooking oil with extreme slip and no warning signs posted. Im talking slipper to the point where you can stand in place and the person someone can push you sideways across the floor with minimal effort. Ice skating rink. Extreme premises liability violation and deliberate negligence for hazardous conditions in this establishment. When voiced to the staff, the response was them literally facing the other direction ignoring it. Another staff member offered to use a carpet mat to cover part of the hallway entry, though you were on your own trying to make it safely to your seat. A third staff member joked and said now you can go skating. The restaurant should be shut down or inspected for safety violations. The food was mediocre at best. Any fried foods come out soaked in a bed of oil, visibly pooling. Our party had a sesame and egg (class 5 allergy) which the server noted during our order, and the chef proceeded to prepare their food with eggs and sauce. The kids menu tenders were fried rock solid to the point it became unsafe for my 3 year old to safely consume. The hibatchi meat was hard and hibatchi had a questionable refrigerator-like smell. I question the freshness. You are left in the back dining room to your own devices to help yourself w utensils or to-go trays as needed. Service is non-existent, and blatantly rude/disrespectful ...and HAZARDOUS. I regret spending even a penny here and having my young children in this establishment. I have never left a bad review for a restaurant but todays experience was infuriating. I will not be returning here and neither should you. Also, they don't take anything off your bill, they only offer gift cards so you can return back and suffer again. No idea how any of the ratings on here are higher...
Read moreMy experience at KUMO 27 was utterly appalling. The bartender exhibited extreme rudeness and aggression, openly arguing with another customer before taking my order. Despite explicitly requesting salmon and filet mignon hibachi cooked medium, I was served shrimp and filet mignon. The waiter's solution was to snatch away my entire plate, subjecting me to an unnecessary 10-minute ordeal. When my food finally returned, only the salmon was hot, leaving the rest cold. The waiter's response? A mere $10 discount.
To add insult to injury, when I sought a to-go plate, the encounter with the owner was even more disheartening. The bartender, now playing the role of a loudmouthed defense attorney, falsely claimed my food had been under a heat lamp. How can one justify subjecting filet mignon to such treatment? When I brought up the cold and hard steak, the owner callously suggested, "Well, you ate your food," even though it was all neatly packed up.
The owner, promising to address the issue, conveniently vanished for 15 minutes. When finally located, he handed me a meager $5 gift card, touting it as a solution along with the previous discount. This dismissive response, coupled with the bartender's unprofessional behavior, led me to declare that I would never set foot in that establishment again. My respect for KUMO 27 has plummeted, overshadowing any acknowledgment of the...
