Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ As regular patrons since its inception, we can confidently declare that this Indian restaurant is undoubtedly the best in the entire United States! Having sampled Indian cuisine from various states including Texas, Illinois, DC, California, Connecticut, and even major cities such as LA, SanFran, NYC, and few more, and hey, some even boasting Michelin Stars, we can confidently state that this establishment surpasses them all. For a passionate foodie like myself, the quantity of food served here is exceptional, ensuring you'll never leave hungry. But it's not just about the quantity; the taste is unparalleled, with each dish exuding authenticity and amazement. The flavors are rich, vibrant, and reminiscent of true Indian culinary traditions. From the first bite to the last, your taste buds will be tantalized, and you'll find yourself yearning for more. While we are on the subject of exceptional offerings, let's not forget their extraordinary cocktail selection. The mixologists here are true masters of their craft, creating drinks that are simply outstanding. Whether you prefer classic concoctions or innovative blends, their cocktails are sure to impress even the most discerning of palates. What truly sets this restaurant apart is its one-of-a-kind menu. Every item on the menu reflects a careful curation of flavors, showcasing the diverse and rich tapestry of Indian cuisine. From aromatic biryanis to flavorful curries and mouthwatering tandoori delicacies, each dish is a masterpiece in its own right. You'll be spoiled for choice, but rest assured that whichever dish you select, it will be an extraordinary experience for your taste buds. Even when opting for takeout, the quality and quantity remain consistent. This establishment upholds its standards and ensures that customers receive the same exceptional experience whether dining in or enjoying their food from the comfort of their homes. There's no cheating or compromise in sight, proving their dedication to culinary excellence. And let's not forget the ambience. Words truly fail to capture the enchanting atmosphere that awaits you at this restaurant. From the moment you step inside, you'll be greeted by an ambiance that transports you to the heart of India. The decor, the lighting, and the overall vibe create an immersive dining experience that is truly unforgettable. It's a testament to the care and attention to detail that goes into every aspect of this establishment. Lastly, the service staff deserves accolades of their own. They work with a level of professionalism and dedication that speaks volumes about the management behind this extraordinary restaurant. They are attentive, knowledgeable, and go above and beyond to ensure your dining experience is nothing short of exceptional. In conclusion, if you're a lover of Indian cuisine, this restaurant is an absolute must-visit. From the authentic and amazing flavors to the outstanding cocktails, their entire menu is a culinary masterpiece. Whether you choose to dine in or opt for takeout, you can trust that the quality and quantity will exceed your expectations. And the ambience? It's an experience that must be seen to be believed. Trust us when we say that a visit to this Indian restaurant will leave you with cherished memories and a desire to return time and time again. Don't miss out—go and experience this gastronomic delight for yourself. You won't regret it!

well wanted to go Samudhra for a long time but as it’s a 50-minute drive, I was chucking the plan. Yesterday I got the chance and decided to have the experience of this fine dining. I was aware of the dress code, but I was in CROCS, and I got in, In fact, I saw one guy in shorts, so not sure how strictly it is followed there. Big entrance..!! The dedicated receptionist is there to take you to your tables. just make sure you are 'presentable'. we didn't have reservations, but it was a weekday, so we did not have to wait. we got settled and in no time, the server was there to take our tables. bar code is there to scan the menu (I guess I am still old school, it's annoying to scroll up & down your 6-inch mobile screen). So whenever I go to any famous restaurants, I ask for their specialty (bestselling dishes), below items are based on Server recommendations. Khandari Machli - well presented, soft fish with batter fried... batter was a little bit blunt though, but in a way, it's good. I can taste the fish rather than the batter - 3.5/5 Gosh Sukha- I had better in Rajni, Parsippany. but it was equally good. the only thing I want them to change is, to remove bone pieces. 4/5 Punu Gulu- I don't know how to explain it, South Indian folks must know it, see the picture though. My veg friend liked it. 4/5 Hyderabadi Murgh Dum Biryani: coming to my favorite topic BIRYANI. the server came to us while we were having appetizers and informed us- "Sir if you want to order biryani, pls order now as we have a limited quantity. I was like -' what!!' - So I 'BOOKED" my biryani well in advance. so, it seems Ghost Biryani is famous here and people booked it while making reservations, and that's why goat biryani was sold out. anyway, I had Murgh dum and although it was light in taste, somehow, I liked it. Perfect long-grained rice, soft in chewing, mix of spices, pieces were well cooked, I liked it (and yes no charge for onions- lemons :P- 4/5 Tawa Paneer - best veg items on their menu I believe. Veg folks who love paneer- go for it. 5/5 Andhra Kodi Kura Chicken - The server suggested it, but yeah it was okayish... 3/5 Price: Every item in the range of $20-26- so it’s not that expensive. Portion: It's huge! We could not finish our main course items, so we packed the rest. Service: It was very prompt, you didn't have to wait for anything, or for any dish too long. they are very quick. bringing more water, suggesting try this with that, very courteous- definitley5/5 Ambiance: dim light, cool decor, dark orange themed, but at the same time, it's very loud. I understand it is fine dining but let’s except we are Indians and we are loud. :D Restrooms: clean, well maintained. I can see their lunch options, where they serve unlimited thali for $20-24, wish I lived nearby. I want to try their thalis. Overall it was one good experience and IMO it’s 4/5

Hello people… posting the updated/ recent review….. (old review still exists under this updated review ) We as in family of 6 adults were there for lunch with a prior reservation. We had to choose lounge bcz it is a memorial day and dine-in was totally booked out… one of our group had CASUAL pants worn… And we had to go through a scrutiny and we had to wait till they changed the clothing… We are shocked with this because we were there at end of April and this did not happen with us then. After this, suggestions by front desk staff… hurt us deeply by saying u can shop at some near store…. OH IS IT WE ARE FORCED TO BUY/CHANGE CLOTHING / OUTFIT to have some good food…??????????????????? SO YOU FORCE THINGS ON CUSTOMERS?? Dudeeeee… you are just one restaurant that serves amazing food…. YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY ONE I heard from few friends and fam recently who lost interest in this place.. thought it was a misunderstanding… hahahaha I am 100% wrong…. This updated review is written by a JUST CUSTOMER who is hurt with staff attitude/by their rules. MY OBSERVATIONS: SCRUTINY AT FRONT DESK, FEW STAFF LOOKING AT YOU AS IF YOU ARE A DUMB CUSTOMER, HIGH PRICING ( with low RESPECT) MANDATORY ATTITUDES FROM STAFF, SPOILING/DISTRUBING THE GROUP/FAMILY TIME, FOOD QUALITY,QUANTITY AND TASTE HAS GONE DOWN. SAMUDHRA, we visit you only to have some good and happy experience… If not that, GOOD BYE… GOOD LUCK moving forward And to all planning to visit this…. HAVE A MOMENT AND THINK, READ THE REVIEW TWICE AND THEN DECIDE One only good thing happened today was, SID who served us some food with a smile and respect. ————————————————————- This review was posted by me 6months before….. by giving a 5⭐️ We had marvelous experience with this restaurant. Definitely an upscale restaurant with fine dining. Our personal favorite is Thali. Paneer here is very soft, tender and delicious. Sea food thali is loved by many of my family members who are sea food lovers. For ala-carte, they have long and delicious menu. We always pre-book/ reserve table to avoid waiting time and also to get the seating where we want. Regarding seating they have normal seating in 2 different halls, bar and lounge and outdoor seating. For exclusive drinks they suggest to have a seating in bar and lounge. They also serve drinks in all other areas too. Great ambiance. The hygiene standards are pretty high including restrooms. Staff are friendly and helpful. Suggesting this restaurant to all food lovers. But don’t expect the food to be served in the next 5-mins of placing the order. It takes time to get the food. And trust me it is all worth waiting. We did take to-go few times and their packing is very neatly and nicely done.

Prepare your taste buds and your fashion sensibilities for a culinary inquisition at Samudra, the self-proclaimed "ocean of flavor" nestled between a discount liquor shop and a laundromat in the illustrious NJ Strip Mall.

As you approach the establishment, you're greeted not by a maître d', but by a fashion police checkpoint. The host, a man squeezed into a cheap polyester suit that looks like it was purchased at a going-out-of-business sale, scrutinizes your attire with the intensity of a customs agent searching for contraband spices. His laser-focused gaze could melt the buttons off a non-regulation shirt, though you can't help but wonder if he's projecting his own sartorial insecurities.

Once you've passed the initial inspection (barely), you're escorted to a wobbly table that rocks like a dinghy in a monsoon. But don't get too comfortable – the strict zealotry has only just begun. A waiter approaches, not to take your order, but to tell you more rules.

The menu, encased in a curry-stained plastic sleeve, The "chef's specials" include delicacies can only to be consumed while wearing a life jacket and scuba gear.

Your sommelier, an old grumpy man who clearly wishes he were anywhere else, recommends the house wine with a condescending smirk – a vintage box of "Chateau du Cardboard" with subtle notes of desperation and regret. He insists it pairs perfectly with the restaurant's signature accessory: a mandatory bib adorned with sequins and miniature curry boats.

For appetizers, don't miss the "Bay of Bengal Bhajis," served only to those wearing regulation hair nets – yes, even if you're bald. The main course, "Naan-tical Nirvana," arrives with a side of sartorial judgment. The waiter informs you that your fork usage suggests you're wearing mismatched socks, a clear violation of Section 7, Subsection C of the dress code manifesto.

As you attempt to enjoy your meal, roving bands of "Fashion Enforcement Officers" patrol the dining room, armed with lint rollers and emergency bow ties. They swoop in at the slightest hint of a dress code infraction, ready to correct any sartorial missteps with the zeal of overeager Boy Scouts.

For dessert, the "Atlantis Gulab Jamun" is only available to those who can prove they're wearing regulation underwater formal wear beneath their clothes. Don't even think about ordering it unless you're prepared for an impromptu changing room inspection.

As you stumble out of Samudra, your wallet lighter and your self-esteem in tatters, you'll find yourself pondering the mysteries of the deep – mainly, how this establishment manages to stay afloat with a clientele consisting solely of fashion models and military personnel accustomed to rigid uniform standards.

One thing's for certain: this "fine dining" experience is one shipwreck you won't soon forget, complete with a crew that treats your wardrobe choices as if they're steering the very fate of the culinary Titanic. Just remember, in the treacherous waters of Samudra, it's not "women and children first" – it's "best-dressed first." And as for the host in his bargain-bin suit? Well, perhaps he's the living embodiment of the old adage: those who can't dress, enforce...

I can taste the fish rather than the batter - 3.5/5

Gosh Sukha- I had better in Rajni, Parsippany. but it was equally good. the only thing I want them to change is, to remove bone pieces. 4/5

Punu Gulu- I don't know how to explain it, South Indian folks must know it, see the picture though. My veg friend liked it. 4/5

Hyderabadi Murgh Dum Biryani: coming to my favorite topic BIRYANI. the server came to us while we were having appetizers and informed us- "Sir if you want to order biryani, pls order now as we have a limited quantity.

Perfect long-grained rice, soft in chewing, mix of spices, pieces were well cooked, I liked it (and yes no charge for onions- lemons :P- 4/5

Tawa Paneer - best veg items on their menu I believe. Veg folks who love paneer- go for it. 5/5

Andhra Kodi Kura Chicken - The server suggested it, but yeah it was okayish... 3/5

Price: Every item in the range of $20-26- so it’s not that expensive.

Portion: It's huge! We could not finish our main course items, so we packed the rest.

Service: It was very prompt, you didn't have to wait for anything, or for any dish too long. they are very quick. bringing more water, suggesting try this with that, very courteous- definitley5/5

Ambiance: dim light, cool decor, dark orange themed, but at the same time, it's very loud. I understand it is fine dining but let’s except we are Indians and we are loud. :D

Restrooms: clean, well maintained.

I can see their lunch options, where they serve unlimited thali for $20-24, wish I lived nearby. I want to try their thalis.

Overall it was one good experience and...
