Khyber Restaurant — Restaurant in Franklin Township

Very bad customer service. The waiter for so rude. We were eight people with 4 kids. We entered the restaurant and were waiting for 10 min and no one bothered to acknowledge or check on us. There was only one other customer in the restaurant at that time and it was not crowded either. We had a couple of water bottle in our hands. The waiter came after 10 min. He was an elderly person, may be around 50+ or so. He didn’t say hi or hello but his first question was if it was your bottled water. We said yes and we are carrying for the kids. He said you are not supposed to bring your bottled water as we are selling bottled water in the restaurant and you need to buy that only. We said yes, we are anyways buying food for 8 people, drinks etc. and we will buy water as well if needed. But he wanted our bottled water out. He was rude and arrogant and sounded as if he didn’t wanted to service us. I have never seen any restaurant stopping anyone from carrying water bottle. He could have simply told us that the service is closed if he didn’t wanted to service us and there was absolutely no need to behave in such a way....

Awesome food, in a filthy and putrid shop.

THE FOOD This gets a 5 ... among the best I've had anywhere in the world. Ask for what is good that day. I tried the Nihari, Daal, Goat Korma and Naan .... outstanding ... all of them. Even better than Tandoori Grill, if that is possible.

THE SERVICE Pretty good. They are pretty eager to help and serve.

THE ATMOSPHERE I usually am not phased by appearances at all, but this is something else. The decor and furnishings are less than humble, but that is fine with me. The first issue I had was with the bathroom, it was beyond disgusting and had an odour that will turn your stomach. But the final straw was the stench of sewage that began to waft into the dining room as we were finishing up our meal.

Bottom line ... I will never eat here ... but I will order takeout, unfortunately that is not very practical for me so it will be less often. Tandoori Grill will continue to get more of my business for this genre, though the food here is...

Food was ok but the owner (whomever was working yesterday evening), was very rude. He didn't even reply back to a simple "Salam". They didn't have half the stuff on their menu available. I asked for a chicken biryani and he said he only had boneles (which was $1.00 more). I asked if he could match the price and he said he wouldn't. Nonetheless, i bought it and it was pretty good. I also bought the butter chicken which was extremely greasy. I've had butter chicken hundreds of times and never have i seen so much grease float to the top of the bowl. The taste was ok but the grease overpowered the flavor. We cater once a week for our employees so i was giving this a test run. If owner was more friendly and accommodating, i would have gave it another shot. I will not be catering from nor returning to this...
