It’s been a while since I’ve been to a Chuy’s and is my first time reviewing one. There are many, many choices to choose from and a pretty diverse menu. They start you out with traditional chips and salsa but also serve with it an almost ranch dressing style of dipping sauce. Both are flavorful with the salsa being more of a pico de gallo style. We also ordered their cheese dip as well which was very tasty. I ordered the Chicka-Chicka Boom-Boom plate that is served with their boom-boom sauce. The serving consisted of two corn tortillas filled with shredded chicken and cheese and covered in the boom-boom sauce and came with a side of rice and beans. The portions were large. The boom-boom sauce was very flavorful and spicy but not too spicy. If I had a complaint it would be that I would have liked to see the chicken in the tortillas shredded more finely. It was a bit on the chunky side to eat. The chicken was like a roasted chicken but not really any seasoning in the chicken itself. It was pretty plain. I’m assuming they are depending on the boom-boom sauce to provide plenty of flavor which for the most did just that. It could be that having a different seasoning for the chicken could clash with the sauce. I’m not a huge fan of refried beans or a lot of rice but I did eat a few and they were good. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their dish as well. The atmosphere was inviting and the wait staff was friendly and attentive. Price wise with tip was a little over $20 per person. While a bit on the higher end for Mexican, the portions were large and the food was delicious. This will not be my last time visiting a Chuy’s when I’m in the mood for some good...
Read moreTotally amazing in every way, except the drinks. Table had just been cleaned from the floor up when we sat down, even though every area of the place was at least half full. Restrooms freshly cleaned, too. Service was like having your favorite aunt waiting on you. Salsa was the best we have ever had, though we both were known for our homemade years back. Fresh handmade chips, again, best ever. Every bite of the food was that good, too! Steak tasted like hubby grilled it himself from a Tbone fillet, mushroom tender. My soft tacos cost the same as that awful cravings pack, but was a huge platter of piping hot super fresh food that it took me 3 sittings to finish. The tortillas had been handmade within the last 2 hours or less: they had not had the slightest chance to get dry, and were still stretchy enough to make a small balloon out of them. Haven't seen tortillas that fresh outside of Houston area before. *Ordered the Grand Marnier margarita. I know exactly what that should be like, having several mixologists in my friends list. Tasted EXACTLY like lime and orange NickelSips over ice. Refreshing, but no resemblance to what I ordered. No Grand Marnier bite. Not even any true lime zing. We'd been outside for hours before sitting down. In that heat, even a half ounce of liquor should have told a tale. Either there was no alcohol in it at all, or so little that it never showed itself. Guess the bartender didn't know that they could've been earning nice tips for each well-made drink, too. Should remove a star for this, especially since I know that location to be known for wonderful drinks in decades past, but we didn't go there for that...
Read moreThanks to one of your servers, Gretchen, for being the worst ever server at Chuy’s that I have EVER HAD and giving me and my family the worst experience possible. First, I am about to be 24 years old in about a week and yes, I agree I do not look the appropriate age, and I asked for a alcoholic beverage. I completely understand your restaurants policy’s about I.D. checks but come on... She had my I.D. for a good 2 minutes investigating and still hesitated placing my order for my alcoholic beverage. Second, she only got 3 out of a party of 6’s order correct. Third, when asking for to go boxes, I asked if I could have some chips, salsa, and creamy jalapeño to go as well and her response was they would have to charge me which I have never ever been charged for it but I wouldn’t care if I knew they did charge me since I asked for it, and when I asked how much she would have to charge me she very rudely and sarcastically responded like I wouldn’t be able to afford it and said, oh like waaay to much. She never once gave me a price. And last but not least, when giving her the payment for my bill, I paid half cash and half card and most of the bill was paid in the cash, when we handed over the payment to her she immediately asked if the cash was hers and then when she brought my card back to the table with the receipt to sign she slammed the thing that holds the receipt and my card on the table and walked around the table and yelled, TELL ME WHAT I DID WRONG, DID I DO SOMETHING WRONG?! So Gretchen don’t you dare come at ANY customer that way. I come to chuy’s to have fun, I always have, but she definitely ruined a fun dinner for us....
