From the mighty Colosseum to the Appian Way, this gem of a restaurant is certainly a jewel in the crown of Nashville Italian dining!
From start to finish, this entire experience was exceptional - the best I've had since moving to Nashville.
The host staff was polite, efficient, and friendly, and the text message confirmation of our wait list spot was reassuring on a busy night in Franklin. I received another text message informing me when our table was ready, which I was able to reply to for confirmation that I was on my way to the host station.
When (not if) you treat yourself to the experience here, pray to Zeus that you are fortunate enough to have Savannah (a trainer) and Tya (a new team addition) as your servers. Their presence was always accessible but never "hovering", as they allowed us to enjoy the experience as a family but were readily available if we had questions or needed something.
My wife and I brought our 5 children here for my 7 year old's birthday, and it was a wonderful decision.
My wife and I ordered a cocktail and wine to go with the chef's board, a beautifully presented charcuterie board as a table appetizer. The kids also enjoyed the nuts, prosciutto and grilled bread with jam and cream cheese as we waited for the entrees to arrive.
I ordered the seasonal vegetable salad to pair with the spaghetti and meatballs. The flavor profile of the salad was nothing short of fresh and perfectly balanced. And the pasta was everything you would expect from an Italian kitchen.
I paired the Veni Vidi Vici with my entree, and the whiskey and citrus of the cocktail enhanced the flavors of both the salad and the spaghetti.
My wife ordered a spare rib pasta dish and the kitchen confused it with the spare rib entree and sent out the wrong plate. Savannah handled the unexpected issue with poise and grace, and quickly hand delivered the correct food from the kitchen to my wife. (A round of applause for the chef being able to produce that order on the fly within a couple of minutes.)
At the end of the meal, I didn't see anything on the dessert menu that especially paired with the mood I was in tonight. So Savannah sat down with the bartender and created an off menu special dessert drink and named it after me.
"The Maverick" is a seductive blend of Whistle Piggy Back whiskey, Borghetti, and their house "jump start mix". You can get it fully caffeinated, or decaf... Either one will leave you begging for more! The aftertaste of each sip lingers in your mouth as notes of coffee, chocolate, and whiskey leave you craving another sip of this divine creation. Be sure to ask for this drink the next time you eat here!!
If you don't eat dinner here (and request Savannah as your server) you definitely want to seriously reconsider what you're really doing with your life and why you're...
Read moreHi All. I had the privilege of getting to enjoy this restaurant for lunch this past week. We started with a nice Red Sangria that was not too sweet which typically ruins the drink very easily. For an appetizer we started with the arancini which came with 6 small meatballs like sized rice balls. The inside was hot and cheesy but the outside was on the burnt side with it probably being in the fryer for 30 seconds too long. The other thing it was missing was some salt once it was out of the fryer. I realize the parmesan inside the dish can add saltiness to it but it was missing. The rustic tomato sauce with the arancini was very delicious. Next up I politely asked if they offer bread service as it was my first time dining here and I wanted to make sure I tried everything. The bread was soft and chewy and the highlight was the delicious Balsamic Vinegar in the olive oil dish. I wished I just had that to dip the bread in. For our main course we had chicken pesto which was very good and lots of pesto. I wish there was some more chicken but it is expensive. The issue with the dish and my future dish for some foreshadowing is both pastas were over cooked. There was no bite at all to the pasta. I could have chewed it with my tongue and not my teeth. I was very disappointed with this and the reason for the low star grade. I thought it was odd that it also occurred in my dish, which was the butternut squash anolini. My dish the pasta had no bit to it and way too much butter sauce. The anolini were swimming in them but that was ok. The butternut squash was well cooked and very delicious as a filling and on the top of the pasta. Lastly, we tried the tiramisu as our dessert. The dessert has lots of mascarpone cheese but was really lacking lady fingers. Just needed one more to be honest. The chocolate pearls on the top did not add anything to the dish but I can see some people liking them. I love tiramisu by itself but overall I was pleased with the dish. I would recommend anyone wanting to try a new restaurant which is a step up from chain Italian food in the Cool Springs...
Read moreA group of us went here for work lunch and WOW. This place is beautiful, has excellent service, and has absolutely delicious food with great GF options. Our server was kind and knowledgeable even letting me know that my GF noodle change would change the look but not the taste of my dish. I've never had anyone warn me of that up front or even know that at all. He also helped another friend order. The one thing that happened is a friend ordered a salad instead of fries. When his plate hit the table, he had fries, but I'm not even sure he mentioned it before our server noted it and said he would go get a salad for him. My friend shared the fries and they were delicious. The ketchup even tasted excellent like it had a special kick. I didn't have enough to be able to place the flavor, but I'd eat it again! My GF Squid Ink Malfadine was absolutely delicious, though I will warn that it is spicy. I love spicy, but it would have been too much for some of my friends and family. It was just at the spice level where water was good but I wasn't sweating haha. One of my friends ordered the short rib pasta. She said it was not as good as the dinner dish because it seemed the pasta sauce wasn't as evenly distributed as normal. She said it was still really good, though. Another friend ordered the Bolognese. Both of us planned on only eating half of our pasta dish. We both failed miserably! It was too delicious not to eat the whole thing. One timing issue was our friend who ordered pizza. It did take a while to come out, but she said she would definitely come and order it again. They were quite busy and we feel like they might have been backed up on or accidentally skipped over a pizza order. No big deal, and they actually sent the manager out to apologize before it was even a big concern of ours. Everyone else also loved their dishes and said they would be back. I even told my partner we would have to drive to Franklin for dinner one night. You should...
