There are several reasons I rated this restaurant lower than a 5. I find it odd,the same day that the restaurant was featured on WDIV, they had ONE waitress, who was not equipped to handle all of the diner by herself. I finally got up and got my own coffee! They never noticed! As far as the food goes, good job! 👍 But when I went in the restaurant was full of stale or very cheap cigarette smoking. It was definitely the staff, maybe in the backroom. If it was someone 🚬 smoking outdoors, close the door. People who don't smoke and have adverse reactions to the smoke don't like the odor. They should not be smoking in a food prep area. 😒 The other issue was food that was featured was all gone, you couldn't whip up some sauce for eggs Bennie! Its not that hard! When the waitress was at the table next to us, she said they had not had grits for at least three days, again send someone to the store!!! If you ran out of eggs you mean to tell me you wouldn't get more? Same with the hollandaise sauce, it is not that hard to make!!! Kind of leaves me with the impression that it is not made from scratch. My kids ❤️ actually used to ask what scratch was, I said when Momma doesn't have it ready made or just add water stuff ( From the TV I assumed it was the later) My kids asked for cornbread and beans. I said it is really late, I make that from scratch, my son said well let's go to the store and get some scratch then, LOL 😆 Maybe I should show you how to make it...
Read moreWent to Old School Deli on a Thursday mid morning, no cars in the parking lot ? As we were waiting for our breakfast, a man walked in and was seated in the booth next to us. We had our coffee, and bowl of fruit (which was canned fruit cocktail, thought it might have been fresh fruit since fruit is in season now), waitress came up to my husband and told him they were out of sausage links, would he like something else? He said sausage patties, they were also out of that. He went with bacon. As we continued to wait, the man in the booth was joined by another man, and the first gentleman was served his breakfast. I guess omelets are quicker to make than eggs over medium. After our third cup of coffee, we decided that was enough. Asked the waitress for our bill for the coffee, she asked why. Explained we had waited over 1/2 hour, the man that came in after us was served before us. Then the second man in the booth popped up, and said the coffee was on him (I guess he was the owner), and suddenly our breakfast was ready. By then we were no longer interested in eating there. We said no, we were leaving. The second man, commented in a smart ass way, "I hope you enjoy your drive thru McDonalds" I told him anything is better than no...
Read moreMy first experience here was absolutely deplorable. I called ahead of time and placed an order for a corned beef sandwich with extra sauteed onions. When I arrived to pick up my sandwich, they said that they put a RAW onion on my sandwich and they could not saute the onions. Honestly, how stupid can you be? Putting items on a corned beef sandwich, like, sauteed onions, or sauerkraut is not a hard request to fulfill.
They told me that they were going to remake the ENTIRE sandwich, but instead all they did was take the raw onions off of it. (I figured that's all they were going to do, so why lie about it?) Why tell the customer that you're going to remake the entire sandwich to remove the raw onions, and not do so? Why lie?
This experience was absolutely pathetic, and I certainly will not be back. There are actually better places in the Roseville area to get a corned beef sandwich made the right way.
I would highly recommend going to:
Yolk and Toast 28055 Groesbeck Hwy Roseville, MI 48066
(They will give you a ridiculously large Corned Beef Sandwich for less money.)
Or
RJ's Corned Beef Deli Clinton Township, MI
I'm not affiliated with either restaurant, but I am tired of businesses that can't get the...
