I want to give a better rating. We arrived just before 7:00 pm on a Friday night to a restaurant that wasn't busy. The outside looked beautiful. We were there to attend a banquet. There were three staff in the lobby. None of them greeted us or even acknowledged our presence. We recognized a party with our banquet and followed them upstairs. The restaurant is meant to look fancy but compared to the outside it looked like they ran out of funds to decorate the inside properly. There was no apparent theme from room to room or anything to bring it together. Our banquet organizer stated that they were less than favorable with working with our party to schedule our banquet even though reservations were made a year in advance. On more than one occasion they lost the reservation that was made and confirmed in writing and forced us to alter the day. Our banquet was full of professionals who were polite and cordial. Unfortunately the wait staff were not reciprocal. Aside from the head waitress, the rest of the staff appeared either unqualified or too indifferent to work banquets. They properly assisted tables to the buffet line. The buffet was fresh and piping hot a plus. The food appeared to have been cooked recently and not sitting around. They maintained quantity promptly replacing the pans as they would get close to emptying. They served a mixed salad, Dutch's chicken, beef tips, 2x baked potatoes, sauteed green beans, rolls, prime rib and chocolate mousse pie. They offered a range of drinks from soda, iced tea and a selection of hot teas to water with lemon. All of the food tasted OK with the exception of the bland 2x baked potatoes and the prime rib with no taste.
I do not know why this place has such a decent review average because the price and outside decorum absolutely does not match the taste of the food or professionalism of the wait staff.
I read in another review that this place lacked originality which I agree. I'd take it a step further... In my opinion, Golden Corral does a better job overall with the professionalism of their wait staff and the quality of their food.
I implore the management at Dutch's Daughter to retrain their staff and liven their food offerings. Rise above just being a spot for the the holiday or 10 year anniversary meal to be something better...
Read moreWe made reservations over a month in advance to celebrate our 20 yr anniversary for an early dinner (4pm). We spoke to them 3-4 times in reserving and confirming and on at least two occasions confirmed the table that we requested. Unfortunately when we arrived we were received with an apology that there was a standing reservation at that time and someone should have let us know that requested table was not available (although there were two separate tables available, that were clearly two different parties so not sure why we could not have been seated at one of them?). We could have easily come earlier or later had they told us. Fine - we just went with it and were seated with an available table.
The service that was within the control of the server was impeccable. The food was fine, although the salmon was overcooked and dry, despite being their blackened honey glaze, which is apparently their specialty along with their seafood. The rest of the meal was fine but not extraordinary. We ordered drinks, appetizers, entree, and dessert and we also ordered to-go at the same time so we would not have to wait, and ironically that came out in advance of our meal which was very slow to arrive. The server mentioned the kitchen must have gotten backed up. They did provide a small dessert to celebrate our 20th anniversary (which was appreciated but the cake was dry and had no flavor). Although it was a nice surprise, but up until then there was no acknowledgement of our celebration, and given their miss on the reservation, we had gone ahead and ordered dessert. We spent $400 with tip for 2 people, which is probably the most expensive meal we will have in our lives. Unfortunately, Dutch's fell short on this important occasion and I would not recommend them for momentous events, although perhaps for a routine dinner and no special requests they would be fine. Sadly a disappointment on this...
Read moreCame here with my daughter for dinner. It was an in between meeting spot between where she and I both live and wow were we impressed? We just looked it up online prior to coming. It was in Frederick and it was just where we chose to go this place is very unique. It doesn’t look like a restaurant from the outside. Looks like it was a renovated office building at some point come to find out it was apparently built just to be a Restaurant/banquet facility. They do private parties upstairs and such wedding venues very unique inside and the ambience very nice very much upscale a little pricey, but I believe that it’s fair for the area that it’s in and what you get my daughter got the fillet which I did not try, but it looked like it was cooked perfection medium, rare of course I opted for the crabcakes. I got the asparagus, which were absolutely delicious Caesar salad. We both had the cream of crab soup recommended by our waitress, great recommendation. It was probably some of the best I’ve had And they’re warm bread was definitely a nice accompaniment. You don’t always get complementary bed in places like this, but it was definitely good. The butter tasted and appeared like it probably was fresh made whipped butter and everything that we had was delicious. My crabcakes were absolutely amazing. Probably top two or three crabcakes I’ve ever had. I’m a big crab cakes guy so if I get anywhere where they have them, I typically try them and this place definitely did not disappoint. I will definitely come back. I’d like to bring my girlfriend here. I think she would like it and probably try some of the other things on the menu, but I definitely would highly recommend it for anyone that’s looking for a date spot. Just a nice dinner out get away from the kids or in my case you know meet up with your adult kids to...
