Sweet Lew's Cafe — Restaurant in Freehold

While searching for a new breakfast place to eat in town, my girlfriend suggested we tried Sweet lews Cafe. We arrived at 11:30, the hostess asked for a name for the wait list, my girlfriend gave hers. They told us 15 - 20 minutes. 30 minutes later after waiting, I went back inside to ask how much longer would the wait be, the hostess asked for a name which I told her. She then said our name is not on the list, "is it under a different name?" she asked. I told her no. She then told us there was a blank spot in the middle of the list and thats probably us. I asked "why is it blank?" She replied "I probably didn't hear your name, so I left it blank" this was when things got interesting. I asked her why didnt she ask my girlfriend to repeat her name if you didn't hear her. She said its been very busy, she probably forgot. At this point in time I'm thinking did we miss our reservation spot? After several questions, out of nowhere, a different hostess threatened to call the cops on me. Fun fact: I was the only colored person in the entire restaurant, my girlfriend was mixed. At this point, my girlfriend started crying because she wasn't really feeling well and was starving. I was gonna wait for the hostess to call the cops but my girl wanted to leave and didn't feel like dealing with the "drama". So few points. They didnt write our name on the list. They didnt give a valid reason for not writing the nane. They got tired of not having answers for any of my questions regarding the only blank spot. Everyone in the store was white/caucasians. They threatened to call the cops on us after we had been waiting for then almost an hour for breakfast. Never im my life have I been threatened with...

I used to love this place. We went yesterday for breakfast. I got a breakfast sandwich, my wife eggs Benedict my son ham and eggs. We asked for pickles and slaw to go with the sandwich and my son asked for his fries on a separate plate for me to have instead of him so I also asked can I have some gravy with them. The bill was 41.50 for just that. Guys, 5 bucks for a small cup of gravy , charged for a little cup of slaw and a cup of a few pickles. The topper for us was 1.50 to put the fries on a small plate. No one has ever done that to us ever, why. We didn’t say a word cause the place was busy, didn’t want to start a commotion and didn’t even let it reflect the tip but with the tip we spent 47.50 for that. The food was not like we remembered but I’m not getting into that. It was a sad breakfast especially since our son said hey let’s go to sweet Lou’s, haven’t been there since the middle of the pandemic when we were seated outside. Well we will miss what you used to think was a great place. In the end to me it’s never about the money it’s always about principle. If I feel I was taken advantage of I can never let that go and that’s what you did yesterday, our normal diner offering the same exact food the sandwich would have had three times more pork roll, the Benedict much more hollindae and the fries three times as much, 1.50 to put the fries on a separate plate was...

Came here last Sunday for breakfast with my son. They were extremely busy and unfortunately under staffed. We didn't wait long to be seated maybe 5-10 minutes and where attended to quickly. We waited an average time for our food how ever not everything we ordered came out with the food and it took me getting someone else who worked there to get me the rest of my meal. My son ordered pancakes which he liked. I ordered a mushroom and onion cheese omelette with sides of turkey sausage and turkey bacon. My omelette was supposed to come with home fries that never came after asking my waitress for them and being two bites from being done with my meal I reached out to another waitress possibly a manager or owner who immediately brought me my home fries, also when my waitress brought out my food initially I had finished my cranberry juice and asked for an orange juice which didn't come out until I was done with my meal. I thought it wasn't smart of my waitress to not acknowledge any of this as well by not apologizing for never bringing out the rest of my meal and taking forever to bring me a drink. My food was tasty but nothing amazing and it was a pretty skimpy meal , the omelette was pretty thin with not many veggies on the inside....
