Selection of fresh never frozen seafood was limited, but I'd rather have a limited selection of fresh fish, instead of a broad selection of not fresh fish.

We bought jumbo shrimp and red snapper. Both were very fresh. Shell on the shrimp were were shiny, sparkling, and transparent, not milky and beat up looking. Shrimp flesh was firm and translucent. Good price for "colossal" (bigger than jumbo) shrimp. Snapper was fresh, also--firm, bright-eyed, and not smelly. Grouper didn't look as fresh, so we didn't buy any. The friendly woman behind the counter expertly and quickly filleted the snapper without damaging or wasting flesh.

(Capt Mark's was better, fresher, and cheaper than Katie's in Galveston; if on the west end of Galveston, you should probably drive to Capt Mark's in Freeport instead of Katie's...

I have been coming here for years, it is absolutely the BEST place around to get fresh shrimp! I now drive from 40 minutes away just to pick up shrimp and it is well worth it even when we have Gulf shrimp available right here in my town. The size of the shrimp from Captain Mark's are always consistent and super fresh. They will even peel and devein it for you if you call in advance.

It is always super SUPER clean inside and the customer service is outstanding! The young kids (teenagers I assume) that work in the summer (not sure if they work during school year) are absolutely the most courteous, nice, well mannered and polite young people that I have encountered in a very long time. Great job Captain Mark's! Thanks for always providing awesome customer service over the phone and in person and...

It's the only place to go for fresh seafood! and I mean that only in the BEST way. We don't go anywhere else. They have the freshest selection of fish, shrimp, crab and my favorite in winter months .. the raw oysters. The staff is always friendly and polite and they can answer just about any question on the prep. Not to mention they'll clean and filet ahead of time and ven boil the shrimp if you want. The store carries sides in the freezers such as stuffed crab, hush puppies or minced crab meat and more. The selection may vary but all good. Also have the fry mixes, coatings, spices, jarred sauce etc. The store is always spotless, Prices are comparable to other stores if not better and selection is...

Awesome little fresh seafood market. Lady was really nice and helped us get what we needed for a little boil. The crabs were frozen and tasted like they were right from the ocean after we cooked them. Everything was really nicely priced, we compared to the markets in Galveston and saved over 4 dollars a pound on the large shrimps. Anyways we will definitely come for our seafood runs.

Pulled onto town wanting a shrimp boil Sunday night, got to Captain Mark’s 25 minutes after closed. They were locked up and the salesman was sitting in his car about to leave. Saw up, opened back up, and sold us his last 3 lbs. The shrimp were fresh and tasty! And his warm Hospitality made it even more memorable. ~the Satterfields, Dallas.

Love going here for our fresh shrimp whenever we visit Surfside Beach. The smaller shrimp we boil and fry, and the bigger ones we bacon wrap and grill. Also fried some catfish, it was some of the cleanest tasting fish. Spent less on 3 meals than we probably would have on 1 night out at a restaurant.
