Sista White's Cafe — Restaurant in Freeport

I had a craving for BBQ today, so for lunch, I decided to try out Sista White's due to all of the 5 star reviews I read. So, I picked up a two meat plate of brisket and sausage and 2 sides of macaroni and cheese and pinto beans. The brisket & sausage was honestly the worst I have ever eaten in my life; I am not exaggerating!

The brisket was tough, dry and burnt. There was no smoke ring and the fat cap wasn't trimmed from the brisket before it was smoked. The sausage was dry, but was slightly better than the brisket.

The mac & cheese was runny and not very flavorful. The beans weren't too bad, but nothing to write home about.

The lady behind the counter, taking orders does, however, deserve 5 stars. She was extremely nice...

Pretty good for being this far out... Very clean inside, very generous proportions and honestly too cheap for all of the food that I got. Lady that runs the counter was over the top friendly to the point that it was almost sarcastic funny.

Ribs were good! better than the brisket, which was dry and a bit tough. greens were light on salt and butter, Mac-n-cheese needed some pepper and some time in the smoker to thicken up.

BBQ sauce is too sweet for texas, needs more kick and twang.

the brisket is dry because its cooking too hot, they need to get a better temp probe and keep it 225- 250°. Even better yet wrap it during the stall with some apple cider vinegar or molasses to...

12/15/23 update. Service didn’t want as usual. Love this place and the people more. See video- how tender can you actually smoke brisket? This … is the answer. The taste is even better than the serving temp!!

Most important part- customer service- was outstanding as always. Little gem of a place. When you walk in- you know the money is going to local tuition, an offering plate, and a group of families. Small business all the way. Good food!! Greens were perfectly spiced and cooked. Dem taters we’re yummy! Moist brisket cut, little on the chewy side, also, little short for me on the serving size, but for the price was a good value. The ribs were spot on as always. Nice...
