My better half came to know about this beautiful hidden gem .... We were eagerly waiting to have a taste of Sheeryakh since we never had it before .... we couldn't wait for the weekend so finally we decided to try out today with our close family ...... When we reached the place we saw there were ample parking space which is a good thing, since we reached week day after 6.30 pm the parking lot was very much empty... As soon as we entered we were graciously greeted by Walli the owner who was very friendly & gave us some background about the dessert & what to expect since we never ate this dessert before. We ordered couple of - Sheeryakh - Afghan ice cream with milky cream & dry rose petals & generous sprinkle of pistachio. Sheeryakh is the most famous and amazing dessert enjoyed a lot in Afghanistan. Sheeryakh simply means frozen milk or even milk in Dari language. Sheer yakh is authentic handmade Afghan ice cream. With it's unique flavors, it makes this ice cream quite special and worthwhile tasting. We all fell in love with this unique ice cream. It's very light & not overly sweet compared to all the other ice creams we have tasted . This was over in few mins....I loved it very much!!! Zhala - Shaved ice with sweet noodles added with authentic Afghan ice cream , dry rose petals & sprinkle of pistachio chunks & powder. This reminded me of Falooda ( Indian ice cream) due to the noodles but made very differently , when we tasted it first we felt something is missing but then remembered Walli told us to add rose syrup ( which we call Rooh Afza which literally means Soul Refresher) we have grown up drinking this especially during summer....this did the trick for us ... completely changed the taste !!! It disappeared within mins... Rooh Afza is a critical ingredient for Falooda ... some history about it .... A falooda is a Mughlai Indian version of a cold dessert made with noodles. It has origins in the Persian dish faloodeh, variants of which are found across West, Central, and South Asia. Traditionally it is made by mixing rose syrup, vermicelli, and sweet basil seeds with milk, often served with ice cream. 1 mango ice cream for the kid.... She loved it !! We all loved the ice cream & will definitely come back to try it again!!!! A True Hidden Gem !!!

Not a paid ad, and I refuse to gatekeep: Craving ice cream on a warm day like today? Skip the chains and head to Kabul Icy Treats on Alvarado Boulevard. This isn’t your average scoop. It’s light, nutty, not too sweet, and so so so addictive you’ll wonder why you ever settled for anything else. The folks are super friendly and the place spotlessly clean. Right next door you’ll find Balkh Bakery & Deli. If you’ve heard about the Dubai chocolate craze but never tried it, now’s your shot. They’ve got the real thing!!!One bite and you’ll understand why people pack their suitcases with it. The chocolate melts in your mouth like it was made by gods. And don’t leave without grabbing some Bolani. It’s flaky, savory, and pure comfort food. So here’s the challenge. Next time you want a treat, forget the Costco samples and Whole Foods aisles. Do a two-stop crawl. First Kabul for ice cream, then Balkh for chocolate and Bolani. You’ll be supporting local, eating the best, and scoring bragging rights for knowing the amazing hidden gems right in our neighborhood.

Finding an ice cream shop that truly stands out is rare these days, but my recent visit with my family to this incredible spot was nothing short of exceptional.

What sets this place apart is its commitment to fresh ingredients and traditional, handcrafted ice cream-making. You can taste the difference in every bite—there’s a richness and authenticity that only comes from small-batch production. The texture is incredibly smooth, and the flavors are bold yet balanced, never overly sweet or artificial. It’s clear that a lot of thought and care goes into every scoop. We tried mango, pineapple and chocolate and the quality in each flavour was consistently excellent!

One of the highlights of our visit was getting to try unique and classic flavors alike. Whether you’re a fan of rich, indulgent chocolate, or something more adventurous like the traditional Afghan ice cream, there’s something for everyone. Each flavor tastes pure and natural, allowing the high-quality ingredients to shine through.

Another great aspect of this place is that it’s open late, making it the perfect spot for late-night ice cream cravings. There’s something special about enjoying a scoop (or two!) of freshly made ice cream after a long day, and knowing that this place stays open late adds to its appeal.

Beyond the ice cream itself, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with a friendly staff that is passionate about what they do. It’s always refreshing to visit a place where customer service is as good as the product they serve.

Overall, this ice cream shop has quickly become a...
