If your looking for true peshawari Afghani style karahi in Bay area this is the place to come. I order three items from the menu sheik kebab, chapli kebab and namak Mandi goat karahi. The sheik kebab had the right balance of marination but was more on the dry side. They should have used more fatty meat or perhaps added salt too early which removed the moisture from the meat. The chapli had the right marination and I would say the best chapli I ate so far out of five afghani restaurants in Bay area in terms of flavor. But again execution could have been better with the chapli also. The chapli the marination was not equally distributed across the meat and the frying was not done equally throughout the paddy. The naan was fluffy and fresh. Now I wish they had sheermal I did not see it in menu. I hope they add sheermal to menu. The goat karahi came in a big black rustic karahi just like you get in the old corners of Pakistan or India in Afghani dominated neighborhoods. The karahi dish is made to order and therefore you need to wait 25 minutes but it is worth the wait. These guys stick to the authentic recipe and yes it's fatty and it's oily and that is what makes it authentic and uplifts flavor. If you eat karahi made by afghanis its originally cooked in lamb fat oil or lard. So expect good amazing bhuna oily gravy. And you will love it. Expecting non oily karahi is like asking for bacon with no fat at all or rib eye with no marbling, gotta be kidding me :). When I want to really taste real karahi not the imitations which take the same base gravy as their other Curry and add bell pepper and onions and call it karahi. I come to this place. They make it from scratch. All the cooks are afghani. The place service is not good nor is it professional compare to other afghani places in Fremont. This is a place you go purely for food. This place has good seating arrangement for family if 6. I hope the service improves, hope they can improve on the execution of kebabs. Because the karahi was so good and so true to its roots I have to give this place 4/5. Usually I would have given more closer to 3.5/5 but I cannot as the stars are whole number only. I hope the owners read this review and improve. They can really become the best mughalai/Afghani restaurant in Bay area if they get their act together and focus on detail in service and...
Read moreOk so let me start by giving you some background- My wife and i were having a very pleasant sunday evening after a walk by the lake near central park in Fremont. And after the walk we were thinking of getting some nice dinner. I so excitedly decided to go eat at this restaurant. This simple decision turned to be the worst i made in a while! When i reached here @7 pm the restaurant was empty. This was the obvious sign and my wife mentioned the same but i so foolishly ignored based on the positive reviews i saw on google. Then i started ordering my food and the wateress seemed very uninterested in the customers. When I asked about their special Peshawari Chicken karahi she gave me incorrect info that the item will have enough curry to eat with rotis and told me my order will take 30-40 mins. I thought this was really special so agreed to wait. And just to make sure we have enough food i also ordered another item and 2 extra roti. You can think how hungry we were. Not only did my order arrive after 50 mins which turned out to be total disaster. It was very little curry and almost dry chicken. On top of it they never got rest of my order for which we waited patiently for another 30 mins thinking they are maybe slow in preparing. After waiting for almost 1+ hours we finally gave up and payed our bill and left. The wateress did not even remember or ask me about my remaining order. Eventually our nice sunday turned into a rather bad one. Guys beleive me i am indian so i know indian or asian cuisine and this place is not worth the wait or the food either. Just find a better one and save yourself a...
Read moreI recently stumbled upon the most amazing karahi at khan karahi kabob, and let me tell you, it was a culinary adventure I never expected! The moment I sat down, the rich aromas wafted through the air, teasing my senses and setting the stage for what turned out to be a delightful meal.
I decided to try their Chicken Namakmandi Karahi, a classic dish. The first bite was an absolute revelation; the tender chicken was perfectly cooked and richly coated in their signature spice blend. You could tell they used fresh ingredients—every bite burst with flavors that danced on my palate! The tomatoes, ginger, and green chilies came together in perfect harmony, making the dish both vibrant and warming.
What impressed me the most was how they served it, bubbling hot straight from the stove in a traditional karahi. The sizzle was mesmerizing! I couldn’t resist pairing it with their fresh naan, which was ideal for soaking up every ounce of that incredible gravy. My taste buds were in heaven!
Not only was the food incredible, but the staff made the experience even better. They were knowledgeable and genuinely enthusiastic about the menu, ready to share recommendations based on my preferences. It felt like dining with friends rather than just a restaurant visit.
Whether you're a long-time lover of desi cuisine or a first-timer, I can’t recommend this place enough. Khan karahi kabobs karahi has rekindled my love for homemade flavors and has me coming back for more. Don't miss out on this gem—I promise it will be a delicious addition to your...
