I had never tried momos before and felt it was a good thing to do for my try something new every week resolution.
The free chai at the restaurant’s entrance is an excellent hospitality measure and put a smile on my face straightaway. The chai was very flavorful with a simple hint of cardamom.
Our server was very kind and welcoming, always smiling and attentive. The food arrived promptly after we ordered, hot, and steaming.
We ordered both paneer and veggie filled momos. Both were decently spiced and palatable. We tried both the soup variant and pan fried variant. The soup was not very appetizing and detracted from the momo flavor after it had soaked into the wrapping. The pan fried ones were much more appetizing and went well with the spicy sauce.
One thing that was disappointing was that many of the momos had burst or broken easily upon being picked up by chopsticks. Given how thick the wrapping was, I had hoped that it would hold up better.
The chow mein was actually pretty quite well done. There were crispy veggies, perfectly cooked noodles, and nicely balanced seasoning. Surprisingly I enjoyed it more than the momos.
Regarding the spicy sauce provided in the bright red squeeze bottles. The flavor was ok, a little sweet, a little spicy. But I’m not sure if was just generic store bought or home made. There was nothing special about it. The same goes for the tomato dipping sauce provided with the fried momos. There were noticeable roasted tomato and spicy heat notes, but there were too much peel and stems that made the...
Read moreI came here tonight for the first time and it definitely won’t be the last! At first I just ordered steamed paneer momos for takeout but then after a friend joined me decided to also get the grill sizzler paneer momos (pictured). The portion size felt appropriate for the price, and the food was delicious. The momos had great flavor with just the right amount of spice (if more spiciness is wanted there are sauces you can use), especially as someone who typically orders foods mild.
Besides the food, the customer service was lovely. When I was waiting for the to-go order (before I decided to dine in) I was offered free chai while the food was being prepared. When dining in, the staff was very on top of offering water, bringing plates and utensils, checking in with us, and removing finished plates. They were very kind and friendly and really cared about the customer’s experience.
The atmosphere was clean, bright, and fairly casual. Music was playing but the restaurant was still quiet enough to maintain a conversation. The location is great as it is very bikeable, with a bike rack immediately outside the restaurant, walkable (close to transit and near housing), and there is timed parking available on the street or behind the strip for those wishing to get takeout or dine in, respectively.
I will definitely be back to try more items on their menu! I’m glad to have a local small business like this here in Fremont and look forward to...
Read moreIt was Friday afternoon and after a good manicure and pedicure me and my daughter decided to go out and eat. We saw this Momo and Kababs place and immediately decided to try it out. It's a small, cozy place with cool staff. Raj who was wearing a Nepali cap welcomed us and we were seated with a menu card. One thing I want to call out, before getting here we brought coffee drinks for us and with the drink we entered the restaurant but we were not even once told not to bring outside drinks. Usually the restaurant folks will warn you and make you keep your drink somewhere in your car. We ordered steamed momos with chicken, jhol momos with paneer and Chicken chhoila, with good spice. The chhoila comes with salad and green bean salad which is crunchy and tasty full of protein. The chicken was awesome with nice spice and well marinated yet nicely cooked. I loved the taste of it, you can tell it's the home made style. I loved the steamed chicken momos with a sauce which I am still figuring out what that was made of. The jhol momos with paneer was juicy with curry. I loved every bit of it and packed the rest to take out. I loved the service and the hospitality of this place. It was a perfect food for the wintery afternoon. I will be visiting here more to try out some of their varieties as the food is just like home cooked food without msg or ajinomoto. Try out this Nepali cuisine, I am sure you will...
