Osteria Kayla Restaurant — Restaurant in Fremont

We had a group of six on a Friday evening and we all ordered something different. This is a nice looking restaurant in a unique older building that had fun-looking shops. However, the cold air blowing on us at our table resulted in two people retrieving jackets from the car so they could be comfortable.

When we exited the restaurant after eating, one of us asked everyone, what did you think of it? All six said, eh…not great. The chicken Alfredo was very bland with little flavor in the sauce or chicken. The meatball sandwich, mussels, and tomato basil soup were mediocre.The shrimp penne pasta was to come with a salad so the person ordered the wedge salad; on the bill we were charged an extra $12 for the salad which we didn’t notice until the next day. Would have been nice if the server had mentioned that when ordering. But worse was the 8 oz steak ordered medium/medium rare. When it came out, it looked nothing like the steak pictured…it looked like a thin, flat grey steak you’d get at a buffet. And, it was well-done. So the steak was sent back asking for one less done, and the next steak looked like the same thin piece of meat but slightly less done than the first.

Overall this meal was really disappointing. It had come highly recommended to us so we were eager to try it, but I doubt any of us...

Better be sitting down cuz this is a long one. My husband and I are here to celebrate his birthday. Started out good with our server suggesting a wine that I actually enjoyed. My husband had a rum and coke, in his words that's a hard drink to screw up, but it was. The soda was flat and very little ice because they ran out. Of ice. On a Weekend. In the summer. Epic fail. We ordered the Mozzarella appetizer, it was bland. My husband ordered the 12 oz New York Strip, he said the meat quality was something I could buy at the store. I had Pasta Primavera which was flavorful and I enjoyed it. Dessert was a Chocolate Torte, also excellent. When we were finished we waited so long to get our bill that I finally just walked to the bar and asked for it. My husband told me that our server disappeared when someone walked in with a pizza. I went with my husband and my children to eat on February 14th, and it was an unpleasant experience, we waited too long for our food, more than an hour for them to bring me my salad, after another hour they brought us the food, and my husband's food was missing a side dish and also the meat in my husband's food was totally dry and tasteless and also my husband ordered the soup of the day with potatoes and bacon and they brought him the one with carrots, I didn't have to cancel that order, I ordered a pasta and it had no salt or flavor, my husband finished his soda and the waiters never came to bring him more until we had to order ourselves, it was not a pleasant experience at all taking into account that we wanted to spend a nice time with the family and none of that happened, totally disappointed with the service and the food, I do not recommend that place at all.
