Al's Café — Restaurant in Fresno

It's better if you go in the morning. The chefs tend to get tired in the afternoon, and they mess app your order. You do have to be very specific on what you do want and what you don't want. My husband ordered the flautas. He did say they were good. But the tortilla was extremely hard. He did ask for no tomato. And they still put tomato on it. They went ahead and remade his plate. My brother-in-law ordered the chilachilles. He said there was nothing wrong with his dish. Everything was amazing. I ordered the chimichanga with shredded beef. I asked them with no beans. And they accidentally put beans on my burrito. They did take it back and remade a new one. But when they brought my second one. It only had shredded beef and rice. They forgot to add the cheese. And I personally thought the rice was on the side because there was rice on the side of the plate. It never mentioned that there would be rice inside the burrito. I did not send it back a second time. I chose to try to eat it that way. But it was difficult because there was also no cheese inside the burrito. Al's cafe is located on a rough part of town but hey that's how you know the food is good lol. Im not from Fresno I just moved here and you can tell this building use to be a Wendy's which gives this place some charm and character. The building is dated and I loved it I felt like I was dining in during the 70s or something. It felt like a time capsule or something. I got the chilaquiles. I feel like you can only get some real authentic chilaquiles when you cook them at home but that doesnt mean their chilaquiles weren't good. They were delicious. They exceeded my expectations. I'm Latina and I love my salsa to be spicy or at least make my taste buds tingle and their sauce was delicious and it had a hint of spice. I was impressed. I work at a restaurant in clovis and I keep hearing about Al's potatoes. I had the beans but I have to come back and try these Al's potatoes I been hearing our customers rave about. I also like that the portions are huge. You definitely get what you pay for. My waitress was also very nice. She was the one with the blonde hair I didnt get her name but the service was excellent.
