My wife, son, and myself went here for dinner on a Saturday. We had been meaning to try it out for a while but with then closing at 5pm it can be a little difficult when you get around to deciding what's for dinner and they've already closed. The food and service here was great. They were bust when we arrived about 35 minutes before closing. Even with that we were seated in about 5 minutes. The chips and salsa were very good. Just the right amount of spice in their salsa and nice warm seasoned chips. I ordered the Carne asada burrito grande. My wife had the chimichanga and my son had a child verse burrito. I tried their burritos and all of our food was delicious. The carne asada has a nice seasoning. It was about $12 a piece including the tip. The servers were really on top of things. As soon as we finished our chips they'd bring us another basket. We drove up front Kingsburg to eat here and I'd return here again if I was in fresno already. Don't think I'd make the drive again just to go here though. Pic of 1/2 of my carne asada burrito.

I asked people for Mexican food recommendations and heard of this place from two different people, so I decided to give it a shot. When I walked into the restaurant there were quite a few people and everyone seemed to be having a nice time. The staff was friendly and helpful. The restaurant smelled nice from the food. As far as the food, I think it depends on what you order. The asada burrito was average and unimpressive. Didn’t care for lettuce in the burrito and would have preferred the guacamole and sour cream on the inside. The chile verde quesadilla was very delicious. Apparently it’s one of their popular items. On a separate note, I find it strange they close at 5PM. I feel like they are missing out on a lot of business closing so early. Thankfully though they do not force everyone out at 5 and let people enjoy their meal.

This Mexican Restaurant is a gem! Great customer service…from the person welcoming us to the server, everyone was incredibly helpful and joyful. Amazing. Chips and salsa are fire. It’s what you would expect with warm fresh chips and pico de gallo. Ton of options for food, all is delicious. I got the Chile rellano and my wife got the enchiladas and tacos plate. Ton of food at a great price. IMO, this is what a Mexican restaurant ought to be. All the food that was come out looks tasty. Came out fast and hot. Ambiance was great inside…super busy…but that’s cause this place is worth visiting.

I ordered a 3 item w/taco, cheese enchilada, and My favorite Chili Relleno ( I had even 1st asked my Waitress how they are ? Do they use cheese that is just inside and stays put when you cut into it .... or is it the way I only Enjoy it where the cheese just melts and flows out 😋 She said YES it is just how I like it ... so I ordered and waited because I was actually VERY HUNGRY after my Dr. Appt and then another wait to have blood taken on an empty stomach. Well 1st thing was the shell of Crispy taco was actually more CHEWY than crisp ( I had NOT even let it sit ... I tried to eat that 1st, so that would NOT happen, then went for my chili relleno and NO CHEESE came oozing out 😭🤔 so I asked another Waitress to get my waitress. I almost went to look for her since I was still waiting. Well, finally came and I was telling her my issues and one of the gentlemen clearing a nearby table Said he had heard what was going on and when he came to my table I got my knife and lifted OPEN the relleno and showed him that they must have FORGOTTEN to add cheese inside mine. He said he would personally go get Me another one and have another taco redone. Well the nice guy named Julian came back and informed me that NONE of them had really any cheese. Then the current owner came out and brought me a couple of them with a ton of cheddar/blend like what Taco Bell puts on their tacos and food items ( it it had been a bean and cheese BURRITO, I would have LOVED all that cheese.) But that is NOT how I have EVER received a relleno in 30-35 yrs. There food USED to be spectacular in the early '90's @Castillos when I had 1st moved to Fresno (Then something HORRIBLE happened @ this restaurant Castillos and they HAD to shut down for quite some time ....) I was so sad because they had the BEST staff & Crew. I turned down those re-made rellenos with GLOBS of cheese melted 'on TOP'. They NEVER brought out a fixed Crispy taco .... so I just had them take BACK 95% of the food that had already gotten COLD. So I just wound up paying my BILL of $16.79 and left STARVING 😭 I guess I should have gone to the place I thought about @ Belmont & Maple. But I am still SO VERY UPSET that I just came straight HOME without eating. Thank You Julian and My Waitress that I did not get a chance to ask her name. What a...

So my two youngest sons and daughter-in-law took me to go have lunch at Castillo's mind you I had not been there since about 2015 maybe 2016 I have no need to go back there again for possibly another decade the food is at best mediocre the service was friendly the waitress was very attentive but now call me simple minded but why did my children have to pay extra for an item that could have just been swapped out I wanted two enchiladas and a chile relleno so I asked for I believe it's the number three or number four Taco enchilada chile relleno I said can you substitute the taco for the enchilada she says no no you can get the 2 in on the plate and add a chile relleno which was $2 more why that happened to my daughter-in-law she wanted a tamale she had to pay for the a la carte tamale now money isn't the issue the issue is it was simple why does she have to make it difficult until the bill got paid and we sat around for another 15 minutes while we had to go ask for a takeout box when we had asked her 20 minutes prior when she brought our tickets and it seems like she didn't have to deal with the table once the tab was paid my daughter-in-law and I had both strawberry margaritas both on the rocks and both were unpleasant at the best I've never been a fan of Castillo's I don't plan on being a fan of Castillo's but that's what my son and my daughter-in-law enjoy as long as my babies are...

I wanted to have chile rellenos so I was looking for a restaurant, I had mix fajitas at Castillo’s and even though they are not the best, they are better than other places, so I decided to go there to try the chiles rellenos. The place was not that busy so services was fast. I orders two chiles rellenos. I asked what they put on top, server said the put melted cheese, if you are Hispanics/Mexican, you know chiles rellenos only go in the sauce no melted cheese. That is the American way. Anyways I said, I do t want nothing on top of the chiles. Order came fast. No melted cheese, but they put a lot of lettuce, this is I think a plate garnish, not a side with the order, the also serve it with beans and rice. Their rice is a little dry and the beans are not good but the flavor is disguised with the melted cheese they put on top. Ok so when I cut the Chile rellenos y could notice that they make a very thick coat of the mix batter that you can teste the flavor instead of the flavor of the chile and the stuffed cheese. Ok so this is the last time I try chile rellenos at Castillo’s. I need to look for another restaurant. If you are gonna make Mexican food, stop calling it authentic Mexican food if you are going to...
