Overpriced for what they're offering... that's $120 we won't get back. Music over the loudspeakers was way to high of a volume. The waitstaff couldn't hear us and we couldn't hear the waitstaff. They had to bend down very close to our faces to hear us, or us them. NOT a good way to prevent the spread of diseases like Covid by having to get in our face. It took nearly 20 minutes to come take our order and then only took drink order. Another 20 minutes and different waiter took our food order, but we hadn't even received our drinks yet. Bar didn't know how to make a simple mixed cocktail. Was told they "don't have it" and was offered a piña colada. Another 20 minutes to be served our drinks (water and a piña colada). We watched 2 different tables seated after us get up and leave the restaurant because no one came to take their orders and they were tired of waiting. AN HOUR IN AND NO FOOD. OH, ALSO a band began to play music that was LOUDER than the music over the loud speakers... and it was awful!! I mean, I have an appreciation for the type of music they were attempting to play, however the singer was way off key and the tuba played so loud!! There was no way my husband and I could even have a conversation. We didn't say two words to one another the whole time we were there because we just couldn't hear one another unless we yelled at the top of our lungs.
At the 45 minute mark, before we received our drinks, we finally received the complimentary chips and "hot sauce", it wasn't salsa, nor was it good. It tasted like ketchup mixed with siracha..??? Eventually, we received the guacamole we'd ordered as an appetizer along with my meal. The guacamole was way too salty. Wonder if they spilled the salt shaker. I shared my meal with my husband because he was hungry, and waiting for his meal. His meal didn't come until after we had already finished my meal - so like another 20 minutes??? I got to sit and watch him eat his meal because our meals weren't served together. He was halfway through eating his "prime rib" and fries when they brought out his COLD rice and beans. Again , why didn't they serve his whole meal together?? The "Prime Rib" which was $40 ended up being nothing more than a very thinly sliced flank steak. It was tough and over cooked.
All in all, it was just over 2 hours spent there, not talking, listening to blaring music, and giving one another questioning looks about "why did we choose this place?" I left with a headache from the blaring music. We won't be back. We won't recommend to our friends or family. You just cannot have a...
Read moreI came during lunch time, and there wasn’t a lot of people there (probably like 3 tables that we’re being used) We had a party of 3 so we were waiting at the front for a while and no one seemed to see us waiting. We were seated after about 10min or so. Waitress was an older lady. She asked us what we wanted to drink. 2 waters and I had ordered a cafe de olla which she said is only served on weekends (I didn’t know this as I’ve never been here before) so I asked for a regular coffee so she said they had that. She asked us if we wanted chips and salsa and if we wanted guac or no guac. I asked if the guac was free since chips and salsa usually are and I genuinely wanted to know if it was free, so I asked and she looks away smiles, rolls her eyes and just nods no. Later she comes back with waters then comes with a cup of hot water, instant coffee on the side and cream and sugar. She says “nosotros no hacemos café usualmente pero si lo hacemos para nuestros invitados importantes como ustedes” as she proceeds to hand me hot water and instant coffee. Was that supposed to be a joke or an indirect insult? If I’d known it was instant coffee I would’ve not ordered it. $4.00 dollars for instant coffee????naw….Anyways, food was ordered, tacos, sushi roll and chilaquiles. Tacos came first then my food chilaquiles were brought almost after everyone was done eating and the eggs were made medium hard. I had ordered sunny side up. She did offer to remake them but I had been waiting for a long time so I said it was fine. Should’ve said I didn’t want the food anymore. My food was bland and cold, tasted like they just put “El Pato” sauce on top of the tortilla chips. Coffee was just instant coffee pretty sure was “Nescafé Classico” judging from the appearance and taste. My friends said their tacos were “okay”. Anyways, maybe I went at a bad time but it was really slow so there wasn’t a lot of people. Service was bad and that’s the only reason I won’t ever go back. But just thought I’d put it out there in case someone has had a same experience. If you go and never been there just know their regular coffee is just instant coffee and they will give you hot water and the coffee on the side, and don’t order chilaquiles. And don’t ask if the guac is...
Read moreWas disappointed with the entire experience. The atmosphere is confusing, as is the food. I couldn't tell at any point if it was a club, bar, or restaurant. I was interested in the idea of sushi fused with Mexican style food, and it absolutely doesnt work. I ordered two rolls, the Vegas and the Spicy roll. The Vegas was thick breaded and flavorless, other than cream cheese. The Spicy was basically cream cheese with jalapeno over it. My girlfriend got fish tacos. They were okay. For a drink, a Modelo michelada. Paid to have it "VIP style", which means a skewer of shrimp over it. $15. Not great flavor, and judging by the amount of ice, less than a whole beer worth of content. The chips, standard at any Mexican restaurant, were lame, and the salsa served with it also dissatisfying, watery, flavorless, no texture. The menu is entirely Spanish, which I found annoying. I understand this is a Mexican restaurant, and Fresno is largely Hispanic, but I dont expect a Chinese restaurant to have a Chinese only menu. The hostess wasnt friendly. Seemed confused. The single pleasant aspect of the visit was our waitress, Laura, who was friendly. Our order was two drinks and two plates (one roll was free, daily special). Total was $55
Fresno has a great assortment of Mexican restaurants, authentic and more experimental. Fresno has a good variety of sushi restaurants as well. This place fails to deliver in any regard. Normally I give places multiple attempts, even on a questionable first visit. I'm confident that I wont be giving this place another go.
Skip it. If you want a good michelada, try Fat Boys, less than 5 minutes away. For sushi, try Edo Ya, across the street. Or Takumi, 3 minutes away. For decent Mexican... its Fresno. You can find three decent Mexican restaurants within 2 minute drive.
Hope this place closes down and something decent takes its place. Overpriced mediocre food, strange atmosphere,...
