I dont live in Fresno so I was looking for a good place to eat. I figured this place would be a good one. Well here is why it was not. I went in with my family about an hour before it closed. I asked the lady that was there if we could order and she said yes. My brothers ordered food first. 5 asada Tacos and 1 al pastor burrito. My husband took a couple of minutes more before he ordered. He decided to have a chimichanga. He told the lady and she said NO. She said we couldnt order ANYTHING fried because the oil was cold and they had to re-heat it and it would take too long for it to heat up. She also said that our food was gonna be packed to go (we didn't want our food to go because we were supposed to eat there) and that we could eat outside before they picked up the tables that were out there. She was practically telling us indirectly that she was closed and didnt want to serve us. Oh and dont let me forget her attidude. She was completely rude asbif annoy3d that we were there. The food that we actually got was completely disgusting. Half of it was thrown away. It had absolutely no flavor at all and the meat was burnt. I know we got there late and I understand they probably wanted to go home and they were tired. But if they didn't want to serve the food that was going to be purchased then they should have just closed the business. Why would I order something that I didnt want. To eat just because they didnt want to heat up oil to prepare it. The open sign was still on when we arrived, the door was still unlocked and I even asked the lady if we could order and she said yes. She should have just told me that they were about to close. I would have understood. I would never go back again. What for? To be kicked out again. I...
Read moreThe tacos can be hit or miss. Sometimes to dry and not seasoned, and sometimes they're pretty good. The meals are much the same. The menudo was a 4 star when I had it. The Chili Colorado was pathetic in appearance and sauce was drippy and didn't even cover the meat, however, the flavor was good. Robertito's version tastes much more authentic and is tons more favorable.
The one thing Los Gallos makes that I will say is a must have and I rate 5 stars is the breakfast burrito. The beans and cheese make it silky as they're cooked just right, the chorizo is cooked down to a liquid and adds just the right amount of flavor and spice to the eggs. But if you want the 5 star version like I had, you have to ask them to add bacon to the breakfast burrito. Make sure you say "add bacon" or else they won't give you the chorizo as well. This bumps the price up another dollar or so, but you won't regret it one bit.
I live around the corner from this place. It's surely not the best. However, it's near by, and they're better than average. The owners prosper because of the lack of competition. If only their food was a bit more consistent I wouldn't have to search out things on the menu at other places.
The breakfast burrito is a 5 star with bacon added, the menudo is solid, everything else is average at best. This is my unbiased opinion, hopefully it makes you choose wisely. Click on me to see what other places...
Read moreJust WOW. My girlfriend has been trying to get me more into Mexican food, I'm very picky. She said she thought I'd like birria tacos (I like a lot of sauce). I actually tried del tacos and I was happy with that but she was fuming! She said try these. Holy le $#+!, it was so much flavor packed into an experience, the cheese pulled away like a commercial! The craziest thing though we ordered a wet burrito we were just splitting a dish but Orianna (who was so kind and patient, exemplifies customer service) secretly put it in for us to try. My mind is blown, I now have a favorite spot and greatest cheat ever. Everything is packed with flavor, Great portions, and even more amazing people! Don't even second guess yourself. I'm a picky person and this place is great, 10 stars if I could. Everything you want in a restaurant and it's a hidden gem!! Can't beat that....
