Called in my order. Showed up 30 minutes later to pick up my order. Was told I would have to wait in the main line that stretched 3 businesses down outside just to pay so I could take my order. This is absolutely insane that they would make someone wait what I can estimate is around 30+ minutes based on my last visit just to pay for food that was called in. So the theory is call in ahead so you don't have to wait for your food to be prepared. But then wait 30 minutes to pay for your order while your food gets cold. The irony is this whole conversation happened right in from of a register that want being used.
I drove all the way across town to pick this up. That will be the last time I ever order from here. There are many other places in Fresno that make great food in the same style and they would never blow off a customer like this, mainly because they don't have poorly thought out processes for how they manage their orders. I guess when there's a line or your door every day you can afford to waste a few customers time. The food is not worth the wait or the hassle. I would steer clear of this place.
Edit after response from management: Absolutely crazy that the manager would respond to my review with this. This response addresses nothing that was of concern and just affirms that the management staff at Teriyaki Don does not care about their customers. My advice is don't spend a penny at this place. Go to Pete's, Kenjis or Kikku where the food is just as good and the staff hustles for their customers. I can't stress enough how I have been eating here for over 20 years, and I will never go back here ever again. I've already got my whole family and everyone at my plant on other places. TD is a...
Read moreCompared to similar restaurants, the food here is okay but the service is not that great. I've ate here twice on my lunch break and it takes at least 25 minutes for your food to be ready and you still have to wait in line just to pick up your order even if you order in advance. When I called to put in my order it was hard to understand what the woman saying because she spoke way too fast and there was a lot of noise in the background from the kitchen. On my first visit I ordered the chicken teriyaki plate which was okay except I got more white rice than anything probably only 2 ounces of chicken so you're better off going to Panda Express if you want chicken teriyaki. On my most recent visit I got the seafood plate and it was not so good. I got 4 thin slices of imitation crab, some small cut up slices of calimari which I thought I was onions at first because of the size of them, and 6 pieces of shrimp that could have been called baby shrimp by the size of them. Once again it was mostly whiten rice and some lettuce which was supposed to be salad I guess. I ordered a side of tempura vegetables and only ate 3 pieces out of 6 because of how sloppy they had been done. It consisted of 2 carrots, 2 slices of squash, and I don't know why but two cut pieces of bell pepper which usually tempura vegetables are broccoli but I definitely didn't dig the squash or bell peppers. All in all I won't be eating here anymore but if you like asian cuisine I say at least try it once so you can judge for yourself. You're better off eating at other similar places like Pete's Teriyaki or Central Fish where you get way more of your main dish, way less white rice, and the quality of the food is so much better...
Read moreThis is my second visit and my last. The teriyaki chicken is ok, a bit flavorless. Today was the first time I got the spicy crispy chicken. I agree with a few other reviewers, there’s hardly any chicken at all. The breading was way too much and it was coming off the chicken and it was undercooked. The chicken itself was flavorless as well. The rice was mushy and the only good thing was the veggie tempura and the salad that came with the dish. The soda machine was also bad. They have one of those that produce all Coca Cola products- yet the coke doesn’t taste like coke but rather like a combination of flavors. The cleanliness of the restaurant is not great either. All the tables were dirty. The set up is frustrating. I think for all the money this place is obviously making it would only be fair to expand and make the set up much better being that customers who wait for take-out orders always sit on the tables for customers who wish to dine-in. Patience and customer service is also lacking here. I was asking a few questions regarding some items and the cashier became irritated with me. I could’ve easily walked out but I tried to be understanding to how busy they were (I came around 12:45). I heard lots of good things about this place being I’m new to the area but will not be recommending myself. I understand reviews are read, and lots of apologies are offered but a piece of advice to the owners/management here, don’t have a reason to apologize. Just do a great job and provide awesome customer service and food from the beginning. I will also be leaving a review on...
