My first time here. Honestly I never knew it was there, heard about it but never was interested until I was craving fish n chips. Ok, to begin the inside is crazy small, there's one unisex restroom. One. Which means if you gotta go you better hope somebody isn't "taking their time". Seating is very limited. They have a good selection of alcohol drinks, beers etc. They seem to have a good reputation on their creation drinks, but I'm not huge into alcohol anymore so, ymmv. Food! We ordered olive tempenade, calamari, fish n chips and an Angus burger with pork belly. The olive tempenade was tasty and savory on good bread, a little sweet ,but good. The calamari was good also, very delicately breaded with slightly burnt jalyummy. Slices yummm. The fish n chips was excellent. Two big Long pieces of Basa fried to perfection and I'm not a huge french fries fan but these were delicate and perfectly seasoned and NOT soggy! The Angus burger was very good, the addition of pork belly gave it a smoky sweet "authentic" flavor, the bun was perfectly toasted and tender , great burger ! Cost ? Well it wasn't cheap at all, but good food isn't free so... I'd say the cost score is 5 out of 10, it won't break your bank. Our server was an absolute beauty and really sweet 🥰 . In closing , it's a good , solid neighborhood place to enjoy good food. On a side note they have a bar made of pennies in resin that's kinda cool. And decent TV coverage, I was surprised to see my Steelers on, putting a whooping on Detroit. Check it out. Should be a good place to take a date or, stag or with good friends...
Read moreWell; it seems somehow that my review of my dinner at Lincoln last night, got transposed to my review of Grocery Outlet...don't have any idea how that happened, but here goes my second attempt.
This joint is surely a great Pub in the heart of the Tower District, but what brings my family back again and again, is their awesome grub from their kitchen. Without a doubt, our absolute favorite is their outstanding seafood items.
Their Shrimp in Walnut sauce and their Shrimp Tacos are both stellar. However, if I must pick only one dish, clearly, far and away, the Lincoln just so happens to have the State's very best Fish and Chips I've ever eaten anywhere in California! As someone who's been a chef myself, and has British blood, I can assure you that you could look far and wide for another restaurant that can top the Lincoln's.
Their secret is simple; a great batter, quality frying oil...and creamy Basa fillets instead of Cod, Halibut or Flounder! The result is a 'creamy' fried fish of incomparable taste, flavor and texture.
Lastly; the Lincoln is a certifiable bargain in today's restaurant scene. Specializing in several five-to-ten dollar small plate options, and corresponding bar prices for your liquid fulfillment, Lincoln just can't be beat. My chef's hat is off to principals; Andrew and Aaron for their...
Read moreThis place used to be awesome. Now it's extremely hit or miss. Usually a miss. Yesterday I had lunch here and the lady who served me was absolutely amazing. My drinks were perfectly balanced and when I asked about the chicken noodle soup, she went to the kitchen and got me the tiniest sample of the broth so I can try it. It was delicious so I added it to my order. I tipped her well and am regretting not getting her name, but she had long curly brown hair. She deserves a raise. Tonight I came here with my boyfriend and the service was HORRIBLE. I ordered a bees knees as usual and I am almost convinced it was a virgin version because it just tasted like a glass of lemon juice. When I received my food they just took my empty glass and didn't ask if I wanted another drink. Me and my boyfriend ate our whole meal and still no one asked if we wanted another drink. And we were sitting up front at the bar.. The workers were joking with eachother instead of being on top of their job. A group of girls walked in the same time we did and they walked out because they weren't being served after waiting around. We used to love this place but the quality has decreased majorly which...
