Going to leave my honest review. As a Latina who always has savory, and spicy food. I have been wanting to try African cuisine, way before tiktok made it a thing. My husband and I enjoy trying different cultures this is how we find our favorite places to eat. Sadly, I can say the food was not the best, I ordered the chicken joloff, husband ordered the beef joloff. My chicken was dry and flavorless, the rice tasted okay but lacked flavor, tasted like a boxed Mexican rice. Not a fan of plantains so I cannot comment on it however my husband liked the plantains said it was the best thing in the entire meal. His beef was tough and chewy, also had no flavor. My favorite was the spices used in the greens, the greens saved the meal but even then wasn't worth the $20 for the meal even the portions weren't worth it. I had like 4 slices of plantains not even a whole or half a plantain. Food tasted as if was pre-made and just warmed up due to the low quality of meats and the flavoring. We asked for our meal to be spicy and nothing exceptthe greens were a teeny bit spicy the meat, rice had no spicy no salt nothing. I originally went to try something (egusi soup/fufu) but I didn't see it on the menu. Best thing about our meal was the Jamaican drink ting... Prices are ridiculous, the fufu (which I didn't order because I didn't see the soup I wanted on the menu) was $20 alone so I could imagine the soup being $18-$20 for one serving plus the $20 fufu so my meal would have been 38$ for just myself going to try the other African restaurant in...

My friend and I placed two orders for jollof rice. I got a non-alcoholic bottled beverage to go with mine. The plates were listed as $17.99-$19.99 depending on the meat you get. Since I was treating, I was expecting to pay a total of about $45. When it came time to pay, the waitress pointed at our plates saying it was $26 and $26. WHAT?!!!!! If prices changed, I wish she would have told us in the beginning rather than surprised us. I handed her $60 cash (they don't take cards) and received exactly $2 in change. I'm not sure if she kept the coin change or if our food and drink came out to be exactly $58. She didn't give me a receipt either.
I can see why the restaurant was so empty. We spent two hours there and we were the only customers dining there besides another customer who came in to pick up an order.
The price and taste are not worth $26 a plate! It was okay and the portion size is standard.
I don't know how this restaurant is 3.5 on Yelp and 4.4 on Google or why people are leaving such good reviews. Maybe they're leaving sympathy reviews? I don't care if this is a black-owned business or not. False advertisement is false advertisement and not giving your customers a heads up about price change is not okay! I was led to believe something and then charged ~$10 more!
Needless to say, I will not be...
Read moreThis was my first time trying this restaurant, Nigerian food period. I was excited, wanting a great experience. I didn't think it was open, but we were about to drive off when I saw someone moving through the window. As soon as we entered, we didn't feel welcomed. The place was dark and gloomy. We had to ask if the restaurant was open. We had to sit ourselves. We had to ask for water when it was usually offered at restaurants. It took him about 20 minutes to warm up our food. It's not made fresh. I didn't mind, I could see the food being a process to make. When we got our food, it was bland. The chicken in the center was cold and hard. I also ordered a meat pie and fried plantains, but the meat pie crust and filling on the edges became hard from overheating. The plantains were good but greasy. My charge was $35, which is not a bad price if the food is up to quality. Bigger portions would be nice at that price as well. My biggest complaint is that we had to ask for more napkins 3 times, plus I wish we had had bigger plates or plates period, forks, and knives would be nice. A big mess was made without them. I spilled food on my shirt, hoping it won't stain. Our server acted like he didn't want to be there, which showed in our service. I will not...
