I have been going to Jenny’s for the last ten years. If not at the Pearland location at the NASA location. Now they are located in Friendswood and I still decided to follow them there. I ordered a cake for my husband’s birthday, Italian Cream. When I cut it, it just fell apart. We couldn’t get it on the plates to even complete a whole slice! My husband took it back on Monday and was told to leave it there to be inspected by the clerk’s sister and mom. Late Monday afternoon I get a call from them to tell me the cake was not dry or it wouldn’t have crumbled like it did. The reason it fell apart was bc they add lots of coconut and nuts to it and it makes it crumble like that. I have ordered this cake before and it was not this texture.
So if that’s the case why do you continue to add as many ingredients that make a cake fall apart?? Fix the recipe!!! After thinking about it I called back and asked so what you are telling me is that I just paid 33.00 for a cake we couldn’t serve and you can’t make it right?? You can’t offer me anything??? She said well you can come pick up the cake. We will cut off what we touched. WTH???? Are they serious?? Lol
She asked me what was I expecting them to do with the cake? I said I don’t know your brother asked that we leave the cake there for “inspection “. Now you want us to drive back to Friendswood and pick up a cake that has been touched by your staff??? I was done!! Her comment was “well I’ll have to talk to my brother to see what he said . We are just hearing your side of the story. Really??? Like I have a reason to lie about this and wanted to drive all the way to their location to deliver a cake that was not to our satisfaction. She did call back but left no message so I take it that she has no desire to make this right or keep a loyal customer.
This was a terrible experience! I swear I would have received better service at HEB than what I got from this place.
Please take a customer service class people!!! You desperately need it! If you treat your loyal customers like this , how do you treat new customers?? Moving my relationship to My Sweet Obsession...
Read moreWOST CUSTOMER SERVICE! I order a custom Harley Davidson Cake for my husband's surprise birthday party. When I arrived I was greeted by a couple of teenagers. One of them eventually found my cake and presented it to me. I opened the box and was speechless. It looked NOTHING like what I ordered. The basic square cake was uneven. The frosting was not smooth and the orange flames looked like my three year old nephew and his preschool class placed them on the cake they were broken and looked like chicken claws instead of the flames on the picture.
I immediately asked for a manager and one was called because all of the adults were at the other location. Once on the phone the manager suggested I drive an additional 20 minutes to their other location so that her mother could fix the problem. I advised her I could not do that because of time. I asked if she could send her delivery driver to pick it up from their store and once corrected, deliver it to the venue she stated "we don't deliver downtown." I was stunned at her lack of compassion and willingness to go above and beyond to correct this hideous cake. After going back and forth with her with no resolve I handed the phone to my cousin because my eyes began to water and I could feel the anger building inside. My cousin asked if they could cut the cake so that it could be served without the guests seeing the shoddy detail. She advised no. The manager then insisted to her that we would not be able to get the cake for free which was not what we were asking I was not willing to pay the remaining balance. PERIOD! The manager then ( after more back and forth)agreed to refund my initial deposit of $52. I gladly accepted and left the store with a few hours to spare in search for a replacement cake. Thank goodness for Nothing Bundt Cake. They didn't have the Harley Davidson images but the orange happy birthday and the flowers were perfect. I will NEVER drive pass the place again and I surely won't buy anything from them. EVER! If I could have given them zero stars...
Read moreWe bought 3 different types of macarons (4 total) and chocolate thumbprint cookies (6 total). All were dry and lacked flavor. The chocolate on the thumbprints tasted like chocolate, so that was a plus. The cookie part was dry and didn't taste of anything. We got 2 chocolate macarons, 1 guava macaron, and 1 mango macaron. All we tasted was dry macaron and sweetness. There was no other flavor profile. The chocolate ones did have a hint of chocolate, but otherwise, tasted of just pure sugar like the others. The filling in the macarons also didn't go all the way to edge. In fact, they were maybe half the diameter of the macarons. I realize you don't want it to all spill out when someone bites into it, but everything was so dry, the filling didn't even move when we took a bite.
The prices are outrageous, too. Even in Houston, the bakeries aren't as expensive for similar bakery items. $21 for 10 baked items, basically for all cookies. (A macaron isn't a cookie, but make no mistake, they aren't some large bakery item either.)
Knowing how long ago The Cake Lady Bakery was around, and how long it's been since closing, I still long for the days of Rose's sweet confections out of Friendswood. Rose Girouard made the most delicious confections, may she rest in peace.
We won't be back to...
