1.5 hours until closing...2 employees working on shutdown procedures (I understand that because I worked at a restaurant). However, I stood in line while they both looked at me and kept working on their projects. I was about to get their attention, when one finally approached the counter to ask me if "I had been helped." Then drive-thru employee noticed me and realized I had been waiting.
After I gave my order, I watched as 3 employees played around, throwing cups at each other. I also understand the importance of fun, team-building, and relationships at work. However, watching an employee make a drink while wearing a cup on her head didn't seem appropriate. Yes, there's more. Then, when I looked for my drink after returning from the restroom, I did not see it. I made eye contact with the staff, and nothing. I sat down and looked again, and then one employee with a "oh, by-the-way" look, said, "here's your drink."
Ready for this? My drink was warm. I asked for my tea not to be scalding hot.
This isn't the end. I sat down to take a one hour call using my headphones (not little earplugs, but the noise-reducing, over-the-ear kind). Just as my call came in, an employee had cranked up the store music. When I walked over to ask the music to be lowered to normal level, I overheard a man, who had just entered the store, smiling and nodding and pointing upward, state how well he liked the sound. By this point, I decided to sit outside, which just happened to be unlit and creepy. The end.
The moral of...
Read moreStarbucks wastes SOOO much on constant remodeling, which is far from being "green" or good to the earth.
Where's Greta Thurnberg now? Think of the landfills full of Starbucks construction debris and demolished cou enters and furnishings. This location has trashed the condiment counter, chairs, tables, and the whole service counter then installed a brand new custom built one with a virtual wind tunnel.
I'm still no fan of anyone at a counter asking for a tip BEFORE the service has been performed. What's the motivation to excel when they already have your money? The world is already nauseated at Americans' excessive tipping, which became out of control after covid.
They are clearly making enough money on their products to do unnecessary remodeling and filling the landfills, so if you can't pay your team's salaries, don't hit me up for a tip on a $6 cup of coffee.
I'll tip servers that actually hone the skill of service.
Update: in response to the "canned" superficial response.... your CEO and upper echelon of management don't care as long as they reel in their 6 and 7 figure incomes. There's no way such brilliant minds don't know common sense of wastefulness and entitled attitude towards tips (panhandling) and need or want my input. They don't care. They are just hoping no one...
Read more3/21/24. Bogo day for all rewards members, order mine from the app. Walk in and the sign is big as day, BOGO THURSDAY 3/21. I walk in and everyone is getting two of their drinks. One by one they come in. .one, only one. I ask why. And they tell me some lame things. No help. The only one who left from ordering in the app with only one drink. Try calling customer service 5 times. No help at all. All offshore and can't speak well enough to have a conversation with. This had been my home site since they opened up a decade ago. Guess I'll go to the road and give another store some business.
1/16/24 finally. The last three visits have been fun and entertaining again. Got the new staff to say my name, even if sheepishly, but all smile when I'm in there to say to me!! Now if I can get the rest of them on my trip to Illinois Wed. To be the same. Thanks. The place has all new staff after the lockdown. Miss all the regular baristas that knew your name, had fun conversation with and share smiles.. now it is just a place to walk in a grab drink. Names, no one uses names any more; order for mobile is gay they now say, after looking at your man on the cup. Weird. But, this place make drinks the same day in day out. The other locations,...
