New York Deli N Diner — Restaurant in Fruitland Park

A few years ago my family and I are here quite often. The owner was a little Italian woman who made all the desserts from scratch. It was delicious best baked goods around. Well we went today and I don't know if it's new owner or what but the menu changed which was fine we ordered our food the eggs tasted like from a carton my Ruben was very dry my daughter's steak wrap was very greasy. We fig oh well we really come for cannoli and cookies anyways our bill was 100$ we left with what we thought wld be desserts that redeemed our reason for liking this place. The cannolis were terrible nothing like what they used to be Publix is better which is sad bc it used to be so good at the by deli.we also bought cookies powdered shirt read cookies and a brittle looking cookie they are inedible. The cookies taste of plastic or strong chemicals. I don't know what happened to this place but it's really bad the baked goods used to be so amazing and now they taste like plastic! whatever corners they're cutting to save on ingredients plz go back to what you used to do. We are very disappointed and won't be returning so long as it's like this. No one knows what anything is called or what goes into making it they're making them wrong with cheap canned and bagged ingredients and then charging prices higher than they were when they were delicious and made from scratch. I'm very very disappointed if u ever used to eat here yrs ago and you go back now you too will see what I mean. Might be good to ppl who don't know better or know what the food and baked goods used to taste like but if u have a taste bud in your mouth u can't miss the chemical taste in those cookies we literally had to toss them all. The Cannolis didn't taste like chemicals like the cookies did but they're not good they're bland and not made like a real cannoli shld be the filling isn't right. Publix has you beat and no one used to have better then ny deli so it's sad how bad it is now. Plz go back to how you used to make things whatever you changed...

I came here after seeing most of the good reviews. I was given a menu fairly quickly, and was brought a cup of coffee fairly quickly. I then realized that I did not have any creamer or milk. when the waiter came back to take my order I asked him for creamer or milk and he blamed the person who cleaned up the table. So, my first cup of coffee was a bit cool. I then asked him about French toast and a different menu which is stated on this menu that they have a larger breakfast menu. He just started showing me stuff on this menu. So I just ordered. I asked for home fries; he said they do not have home fries. I got a veggie omelet and later was told they did not have spinach. After my order came, he came back with napkins and put it in top of my empty cup of coffee. I took the napkins off and looked into the empty cup. He then asked, do you want another cup of coffee, and I said, yes. Then while paying I ordered some cookies to go. . I asked girl how much was my food bill, she just looked at me. I asked again and she seemed confused. I said, never mind, and another woman explained to the younger waitress what I was asking. The girl who never smiled and was not friendly at all walked to get my cookies at a very slow pace.

My wife already left a review but I would like to leave my own review. We entered the deli and were told to sit anywhere, so my wife hungry and ready for breakfast sits at the first table she sees and begins waiting for a waitress while searching through what menu options she can see around her. I decided to get a couple of their baked goods(two blueberry muffins for my wife and a lemon danish for me) in an attempt to subside my wife’s hungry and mine until our order was taken and food ready. So I pay a little less than $5 for the baked goods and sat down and began eating my danish while still waiting for a waitress. As I ate my danish I looked around and noticed everyone else had silverware, so I began to watch as more people came in they immediately sat and were given silverware and had drink orders asked and immediately given. I decide it’s time to leave, as we left, I left my trash and said let’s go to Denny’s. We actually went to “HP GRILL” and had the best breakfast I’ve had in a while, I highly suggest having breakfast at “HP GRILL”, everything was cooked to perfection and they were on top of getting us food and taking care of us.
