I swung by Alvaro’s Mexican Food the other day and decided to try their carne asada burrito. It was pretty good—definitely hit the spot. The carne asada was nice and tender, packed with flavor, and wrapped up in a warm, fresh tortilla. The veggies and salsa added just the right amount of crunch and kick without overpowering the meat. The place has a laid-back vibe, perfect for grabbing a quick bite without any fuss. It wasn’t too crowded, so I didn’t have to wait long for my order. The staff were friendly and got my burrito right how I wanted it, which is always a plus. Prices were reasonable too, which is great when you’re looking for tasty Mexican food without breaking the bank. I also noticed they have a good selection of other dishes, so there’s plenty to choose from if you’re in the mood to try something different next time. Alvaro’s Mexican Food is a solid choice if you’re craving a hearty burrito. I’ll probably drop by again to see what else they’ve got on the menu. If you’re nearby and in the mood for some delicious carne asada, give Alvaro’s a go!

Plastic and a long strip of fat in my carnitas burrito. Where's the zero stars option? This was the most disgusting food I've had in memory. I ordered three carnitas burritos and a bean burrito. I opened a carnitas burrito and it was nothing but grease. I drained what I could, then I started eating. The taste is forgettable, which is sad because they used to be great, but the quality has suffered as the prices have increased. But what was absolutely disgusting, unforgettably disgusting, purely loathsome, was the big strip of what looks and feels like boiled fat, and yellow strips of what feels like plastic. PLASTIC!!! (I'll up load a photo.) I will never recommend this place to anyone and I will go out of my way to dissuade people from coming here. This happened on 08/27/24, ordered about 3:20 p.m. EDIT: 08/28/24, 5:50 a.m. - I ordered 4 total burritos for 2 people/family. 1 each for dinner, 1 each for lunch the next day. I decided not to eat my second carnitas burrito. I did heat it up, which left it greasy/oily and I did open it up. I found another long piece of stringy, chewy, spongy meat on the inside. I don't know what it was. I do know that if that had touched my tongue and entered my mouth, I would have puked. Also, after cutting up the burrito and looking through it, I noticed two black hairs close together mixed with the guacamole on my plate. First, my hair isn't black, second, my hair is shaved to about 1/4 an inch right now. I'm not going to guess at what kind of hair it was, but that is disgusting. I suggested to my family member not to eat the third carnitas burrito, but we did open it up. There was no long and spongy piece of meat/fat, whatever it was, but there was that yellow plastic/plastic-like thing on the inside. Their cook needs to be fired and possibly arrested for messing with people's food and the Health Department needs to be notified. Maybe I'll notify them. Honestly, I haven't felt this mentally sick in a long time.

I ordered the two beef taco combo & the meat was so bad. It should have not been served to anyone. It should have been trashed. I did drive from far & was starving when I just got back into town so I ate it. The beef was almost ashes. It's expensive here too. I wonder if the owner knows the quality that is being served here.I blame the cook because he/she should have known better. It was like eating ashes and my tongue was being scraped. These tacos were okay in the past visits but I did notice they keep getting worse & worse. I feel scammed because of the price with the poor quality of food & after reading the reviews, they should go out of business. I'm never coming here again. Someone mentioned rats. I'm so disgusted after eating here.

My fiance and I were excited to try an authentic looking taco shop. We are used to SD taco shops, and unfortunately, this place didn't quite meet our expectations. There food is okay. They do add a lot of cheese to everything, so that's nice. But besides that, for me it was still missing something. Maybe it was an off day, I have no idea. The lady at the window was nice, and they were able to not add the meat for the supreme nachos, (vegetarian). This is quite a drive from where we were staying, so we prob will not make the drive again.
