It seems like there's a trend of racist and rude employees at this establishment. It's not even that I expect stellar customer service from a Korean market. But from my observation and reading through some of these comments, some of the workers here lack human decency.
Today at 7:30pm a lady (Cashier #011 my receipt calls her) was ringing up a man in front of me. She had a bagger packing up the groceries when she realized the last item she scanned was a box of soy milk - which needed to go in the bottom. She rudely unloads the bag which the bagger neatly packed, shoves the box into the bottom of the bag, rudely packed the remainder of the items, and loudly and demeaningly says "๋ ๋ณด๋จ ๋ด๊ฐ ๋ฌ์ง" to the hispanic bagger. She humiliated him in front of the whole group of customers (who were mostly korean) and he didn't react - maybe because he didnt understand or didn't know what to do.
Management, if you read this, I'm not saying that you need to fire her. I do think you need to confront her and correct her perspective so she knows that it was wrong. I personally would not want to work somewhere where I am not treated or seen as a valued employee or human being. If that bagger in particular is not skilled in bagging, maybe you need to put him elsewhere or retrain him. Do something about it and don't be so "Korean" and sweep it...
ย ย ย Read moreLowkey, better than the other korean markets on Beach Blvd and I'll tell you why.
Meat dept - their service is amazing. The butchers wear masks, but you can tell they're smiling when they greet you. The meat selection is top tier, good marbling, with no bone dust, their marinaded meat is booooomb. Meat is always on sale and hasn't gone up in price compared to other markets. You can also call in the morning to place an order bcause some of their meat sell out before 6pm.
Produce dept - fresh selection of literally everything you need for korean dishes. Everything is usually fairly priced or cheaper than other korean markets.
Deli - I shop after work, so most of the pre-made items are almost gone. But that tells me that their food is bomb.
Snack selection is kind of lacking, but I don't really snack anyway.
Other miscellaneous products such as canned food, spices, oils, etc are fairly priced.
The checkout ajummas are always friendly and greet you with a smile. Service like this is really rare these days and I just wanted to point that out.
The place is pretty old and you can tell it hasn't really been refinished since the 90's, but who really cares as long as their prices are cheap while their quality...
ย ย ย Read moreUsed to like this place for fish and came a lot for regular shopping. Came this Tuesday (12/03/24) and purchased salmon that was labeled packaged that same day. Opened it at home, and it was slimy, rotten, and rancid! We noticed in the past when meat didn't look right and didn't purchase. But holy hell, this looked fine, and wtf packaged the day of! Disgusting and unsanitary food operations. Idk if this was just time temperature abused or it just sat long enough, and they slapped a new label to safe food costs. Absolutely horrid that their staff don't follow food safety protocol and will package literal rotten fish. Not coming...
