BWON is one of the few KBBQ spots that I know of that allow single diners!! I called like 5 KBBQ restaurants in Garden Grove/Buena Park & they all don’t allow which is so disappointing & frustrating?? Grams which was my original destination, does but only when it’s not busy. But it was given it was a Saturday night sadly. Back to BWON, I enjoy their self serve banchan so they doesn’t waste it on every single table like other places do & their self serve sauces. I like getting the chili sauce, lemon wedges & a splash of vinegar. For banchan, I get the glass noodles or japchae but it’s usually on the sweet side which I don’t prefer but I still eat it bc I love glass noodles; kimchi, rice paper, pickled radish slices & their already dressed salad. For meats, I go ham on beef tongue all day as my main. I also go for the LA marinated short rib & the beef rib fingers which I super recommend - they’re like steak bites in “chicken finger” but beef form. This time their soft tofu soup was soo tofu-y, which I loved & delicious. I tend to request for no brisket meat since it’s in there & jus tofu which they do their best to accommodate. Service is pretty decent here! I just flag down when I need but they did check in every now and then Last call for salad bar buffet is about 12a? Last call for meat is 12:30a I believe. Also pro tip: happy hour special is 11 pm to close Tuesday through Sunday!

The food here was great, they have a great selection, buffet, shabu shabu and kbb at the same time. My sever Daniel was great very attractive and kept the meats commercial. The atmosphere is also amazing, dim lighting and comfortable. Update: 02/04/2024 5pm Having frequented this restaurant previously with my bjj brothers and enjoyed their great selection of buffet, shabu shabu, and Korean BBQ, along with the pleasant atmosphere created by dim lighting and comfortable seating, I felt compelled to update my review after my latest visit on February 4th, 2024. On this occasion, I was accompanied by my expecting wife, looking forward to another delightful dining experience. Unfortunately, our initial interaction was far from the high standards I experienced with my brothers. We were served by a young Hispanic waitress whose demeanor was notably rude; she failed to offer us the option of drinks, a surprising oversight given the prominent display of soju at the entrance. Further exacerbating the situation, she engaged in conversation with the host (who was also rude) while I was in the midst of placing our order, demonstrating a disconcerting lack of attention. Both the waitress and the host exhibited a level of rudeness that was quite unsettling. The service mishaps continued as I found myself having to prompt the replacement of our grill, only for it to be exchanged with a broken grill that was noticeably missing several pieces. Additionally, the oversight of leaving food from other tables unattended did little to enhance the dining ambiance. However, amidst these challenges, there was a beacon of exceptional service: a waitress named Sarah. Her professionalism and dedication to customer satisfaction significantly redeemed our experience. Sarah's attentiveness, her initiative to inquire if we desired drinks, and her overall approach to service were exemplary. She single-handedly transformed our visit, ensuring we felt valued and well-cared for. Due to Sarah's outstanding service, I was compelled to leave a 20% tip on our $100 bill, a gesture made solely in recognition of her efforts. Had the tipping policy allowed for individual gratuities, I would have gladly rewarded her with a 100% tip. Pro Tip: If you're feeling adventurous and order more than two orders of brisket, brace yourself for an unexpected twist in the plot – the cuts get leaner and leaner, as if the kitchen is on a New Year's resolution kick. To navigate this lean dilemma, save some of the fatty brisket from your initial orders like a culinary squirrel saving nuts for the winter. Then when they give you the dry brisket mix the to add more fat and prevent dry meant as shown in the pictures. It's the perfect strategy to maintain moisture in the force of your BBQ feast. In reflection, while this visit exposed some areas of concern, particularly with certain staff members' service quality, it also highlighted the impactful difference that one dedicated individual can make and the strategic maneuvers needed to optimize the brisket experience. It is my hope that the restaurant addresses these inconsistencies to ensure all patrons can enjoy the exceptional dining experience that I know they are capable of providing, all while navigating the brisket strategy like seasoned generals.

The idea that you could have ayce kbbq and hot pot at the same time sounded like a spectacular combination, but it was poorly executed here as they were understaffed, which contributed to lack of attention and quality of service. While we left full, there was a lot left to be desired and it felt like a waste of time and money spent. Especially since it was Thanksgiving Day. We chose Menu B for both ayce kbbq and hot pot. For hot pot, we got Spicy Seafood and Beef for our soup base. Vegetable platter comes out followed by our meat selection: ribeye, beef belly and lamb. They appeared thin in their tray, but once cooked, the pieces were so large and thick. I wish they were cut a bit smaller and/or thinner. For kbbq, we ordered brisket, LA marinated short rib, pork belly, beef belly and beef tongue. We never got the beef tongue, but 2 extra trays of brisket. They drop off the meat quickly to disappear elsewhere, so it's not like we could ask what they were. We also ordered the soft tofu soup and steamed egg, which were both BURNT. You could smell and taste the char and bitterness. Awful... The side dishes were mediocre. We got refills of the potato salad and radish slices while everything was set aside due to it being bland or having a strange aftertaste. We also got sauces, but we had no idea what they were. Service was lacking, aka, ours disappeared after the initial order. After many failed attempts to get someone's attention, my bf shouted "Excuse me" to get anyone's attention. They ran over fast and started to pay more attention further into the evening, which is crazy because we arrived at opening when it was a little slower. Overall, it was shocking to experience sub-par service. In my opinion, there's definite room for improvement to streamline their service because it was chaotic. I think it would be great if the servers could spend like 2-3 minutes providing an overview of their menu/ordering process and how to adjust the fan above the grill, especially if it's their first time at BWON. Have a designated person as a refill floater for beverages, sides and grill change. Hire a hostess or have someone at the front desk AND make sure the tables are cleaned before a new party arrives so that they don't wait in the middle of the walkway. SMH.

Look ima be real honest and cut to the chase for those of you who want to dine here. The food is great. Tons of selections korean sushi, bbq, and fried chicken, ban Chan you name it. The service is terrible. Understaffed. You have at least two waiters on the floor. So hard for you to flag someone down. We were waiting to get up out here to go on our business I had to flag down 3 people to tell another server to assist us from afar. I mean I get it your understaffed. That's not my problem. Common courtesy to walk over and politely say is there something we can possibly assist you with instead of rolling your eyes and telling other waiters to help. Laziness. The owner is setting up the front of the resturant while everyone here in the back is being left secluded. Having one waiters who is basically running with his head cut off that's too much responsibility. The amount of traffic that you get in an establishment is an eye opener. Especially for an owner. The problem isng the servers it's probably the owners. This is my second attempt to give this spot a shot The food is great shabu shabu and kbbq with all you can eat. But man service is horrible only tip yall are going to recieve is do better. Plus the restroom smells like you walled on skidrow. Like please invest in taking your time to clean it up in here. If you want food this is the place be aware of the quality of service your going to get 30$ a plate should be 15 with the slow pace of workers and the attitudes. Such a shame. Just be aware when reading this

Where do I start. #1. Way understaffed. #2 the place was hot. When I say hot. I mean sweat dripping down my face profusely. Their thermostat read 84 degrees. #3 the smoke vent did not work. The whole back area near the restroom did not work. We had 5 tables. None worked. Our server came to take our meat order. We asked to order beer. Since it was really got. She told us after she brings out the meat. 15 minutes later the meat comes. Tried to order beer. Now She says. Wait for the other server. I looked around. Not another server in our area in sight. She was our only server. I then wave down a nearby worker that was pouring water for my neighboring table to try and order beer. He says he didn't speak English. 30 minutes in my original server finally comes back. We were able to order beer. I asked for 2 towers and a Pepsi. 15 minutes later. She shows up with 1 tower and no Pepsi then vanishes again for 15 minutes. The servers were almost non existent. The meat quality was mediocre at best. For the top dollar they charge I expect good service and quality food. Not to be baking in an oven. They might argue and make the excuse that the AC was down. But I can tell they don't want to invest in fixing it. Because they have a mini split system on the wall and a freestanding ac system in the private room. That tells me they went cheap.

Terrible Experience – Never Going Back. This was my first time bringing my family here, and it will definitely be the last. 1. At $38 per person, I expected something better. The food was average at best, nothing special at all. 2. The worst part was the complete lack of service. I had to walk to the counter myself just to get water because no one bothered to refill our bottles. 3. My wife had to leave the table to find a waitress just to take our order. Seriously? There were three waitresses standing around with their backs to us, ignoring customers. The restaurant wasn’t even busy—only about five tables were occupied at 3:30pm yet they were still too busy to provide basic service? 4. We had to keep calling them over just to get the grill rack changed. We tried to order a steamed egg dish, but they didn’t have it due to an egg shortage. Fine. Then we tried ordering noodles, and guess what? They didn’t have that either. We paid $38 per person for this kind of dining experience? 5. Despite everything, I still left a 10% tip (which is more than reasonable for a buffet), even though they had the audacity to recommend an 18% tip on the receipt. 6. This place is not worth the money or the hassle. I will never return and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.
