$14 weekday lunch $20 dinner and weekend, sodas $2.50. Dinner has rib eyes cooked on the big pan.
Typical Chinese buffet, serves fresh and very good ingredients here. Pretty good salad bar. Good, fresh tuna, salmon sashimi with various sushis and rolls. Shrimps are the largest I have seen in any buffet in SoCal, fresh, plum, juicy, cooked a few different ways. The walnut shrimp is very good, also clam and mussel.
4 kinds of delish soup, miso, sweet sour, seafood and the Vietnamese sweet and sour shrimp soup. Beef with broccoli has a lot of tender beef. BBQ pork rib was good. Many different vegetables, beans, mushroom ect. Vegetables were fresh and properly cooked, crunchy, delish. Every dish was seasoned and spiced properly and all delish.
The grill has thin, raw, bright red rib eye steaks, select grade, Korean short ribs, raw shrimp and various vegetables. I grabbed 4 steaks and 3 Korean cross ribs. A sign says " Options: rare, medium rare, medium and well." I told the cook to make my rib eyes medium. All other buffets overcook steaks and meats. I could never eat them, but this time this cook actually delivered a good, tender, juicy medium steak, very nice to eat.
The steaks were not rib eyes, more likely top sirloins tenderized with baking soda, tender, juicy and tasty, I was tearing them apart with my fingers, eating without utensils. Nice. The Korean ribs were thicker and colder, turned out medium rare, but they were too sweet for me anyway. On the way out, I gave the cook a cash propina for good work.
Fried crab was good and meaty. The battered and deep fried fish sticks were nothing special, dry and tasteless without good sauces, may be better sauteed with garlic, onion and tomato. Vietnamese Cha Ca with fish sauce, noodle and herbs is tastier.
Desert station was good with various cakes, cream chous, pudding and various fruits with ice cream cups.
$20 for dinner and weekend is a very good deal, considering good, fresh, high-quality ingredients and good, authentic Chinese cooking. $14 lunch has everything except grilled rib eyes, a very good deal. They should add deep fried chicken and braised pork, more authentic Chinese, also perhaps beef pot roast, easy to make and cheaper than shrimp, mussel, crawfish, for meat eaters.
If I make a steak dinner at home, it will cost me at least $20 without vegetables and side dishes. This buffet serves a very good selection of the tastiest, healthiest food, also very good value for your money, highly recommended. Will return for sure.
I don't like chicken but still miss the deep-fried whole chicken at Komi Buffet in Buena Park, such lean and delish chicken chunks full of fresh chicken taste and flavor with just a hint of 5 spice, much tastier than KFC with too much batter and too oily on their chicken pieces.
Flaming and Komi will be the only 2 OC buffets I go to until otherwise updated by reliable and...
Read moreI am giving this place 3 stars overall, because it is very clean and sanitary with the remodeling completed. Also the servers work hard to keep the eating area tables clean and stocked with the condiments that are offered. They also work fast to make sure the dining room floor is clean. They are attentive and friendly to the dining customers. However, I must agree with some of the other reviewers, about the poor quality of the food served there. I was a little concerned about the temperature of the food also. Steam table food didn't seem warm enough. And the cold food service counters didn't seem cold enough. I did arrive about an hour before closing time, so that could have been a factor for the dry tasting food. Nothing was fresh. They aren't going to refill any of the food trays at that hour. For example: I tried two bbq pork spareribs and one was over cooked inside and the other was undercooked too raw and off taste. I bit into both and just left them back on the plate. Also, the Cali rolls looked dry,but I tried 2 in order to make my review. Those were stale and lacked flavor. Baked mussel was too bitter not warm enough. Food experience was not good overall. Maybe it's better to get there soon as opening time to get a better idea of what the food is like. I am not going to go back, so maybe it's up to other reviewers to input the time to get the best results for the food there. They do give seniors a discount! Without asking. That's a rare...
Read moreThis is quite possibly the cleanest, best asian seafood buffet in all of SoCal. They have great shrimp and seasonal dishes for AYCE, such as crab (split whole), crawfish, and mussels and clams. They have a Mongo BBQ grill inside, typical of a Chinese-style AYCE. The first thing that struck me as unique, was how clean and well-maintained everything looked at felt. Not only did the food smell, look, and actually tasted delicious, but the actual environment was kept sparkly clean for a busy AYCE. Also, our waitress/server was awesome, and we got constant drink refills as needed and got used plates taken away. The fast and responsive service is the cherry on top for this restaurant, there's literally nothing to complain about. Except for one thing. This AYCE was so good, there were too many customers and it got crowded quick! And you gotta be fast to get certain dishes otherwise you'll have to wait for restock. Crab dishes generally go fast, now I'm not saying be a gluttonous greedo and overpile your plate when you see it, but you have to pay attention when it's stocked at the steam table. The sushi is OK, but that's standard for AYCE. Will definitely be back with the fam. 5/5 across the board. P.S. For best results, show up here right when they open at 11 or so. Otherwise the line will go out...
