Kayla's Cake Fullerton — Restaurant in Fullerton

Thankful for the countless recommendations and Yelp Elite invites to bring us to venture out to places we would have never thought to seek out! Friday morning is when we made our way to our old stomping grounds in Fullerton to visit this hidden gem. Kayla’s Cake is a little inconspicuous when you’re driving through Orangethorpe. Behind the strip malls you’ll find this aesthetic building that holds all baked goods!

Iced Matcha Latte - ($5) - SO refreshing and SO satisfying, especially when you claim a spot beside the barista and see the whisking magic happen.

Blueberry Scone - ($4) - Super Fresh, we got lucky and got the fresh baked batch, got it toasted before leaving and enjoyed it right on the cute little outdoor patio. Consistency was more fluffy vs crumbly than what I’m used to for scones.

Creme Brûlée Macaron - ($3.50) - One of their specialty macarons - SO GOOD, the subtle sweetness from the torched sugar was clear in each bite.

Pistachio - ($2.75) - I never leave a macaron purchase without the classic pistachio. Favorite all around flavour and the one here at Kayla’s is definitely on the top list.

I had the privilege of trying this bakery thanks to my Yelp status. I was given a choice of a free beverage and 2 macarons to try. I have never had a macaron so I was pretty excited to try one.

I found the place with no problem. There is a huge sign on Gilbert and the establishment is located behind a small strip mall.

It was very clean inside and the staff members were very friendly. I was a bit overwhelmed by my choices of macaron flavors. I was already eyeballing the Crème Brulee one but asked what the popular flavors were. I nailed the first one with the Crème Brulee and he suggested the Belgian Chocolate as my second choice. I also purchased a Smore's ball because it just looked so good.

For my beverage I chose a Café Mocha, my typical go to drink. It was 5:30pm and I need a coffee. I was very yummy but I wish it would have been hotter! I like my coffee very hot.

The macaron melted in my mouth. I REALLY liked the Belgian Chocolate one. The Smore's ball was FABULOUS!

They also had cakes in a cup that I was tempted to also purchase but I was afraid it would be too easy to take that and eat in the car. I already have enough calories in my treats and coffee to inhale.

First time visiter and definitely won't be my last time!

(Parking was plentiful in their own private lot.) Once I got inside, Demar helped guide me through what was provided! I opted to eat in which is something I actually really appreciated in the end. Would definitely love to come back in the future to try some of the other items like the lovely macarons and cakes as well.

Here are the items I tried: *Egg Tart: The egg tart is pretty good! There was an option to warm it up which is recommended. I wish the crust was a little flakier but all-in-all, a really nice dessert. I loved the plate it came on and the presentation. *Hibiscus Cooler: This drink was part of their seasonal rotation. Again, if you have it in store, they give you a full on mug. Really appreciated the mug itself (which sounds super silly but it felt great / loved the material and the weightiness). The drink itself was good too. Needed something a bit soothing for the throat and this had a mixture of the hibiscus tea and lemonade - not too sweet.

I also learned from Demar that the cafe opened up 3 years ago a little before the pandemic, and they've been looking to get the word out about their business.
