Black Rock Coffee Bar — Restaurant in Fulshear

Grabbed 3 Coffees Early Sunday Afternoon. We got an Iced Americano with Hazelnut Flavoring and 2 Iced White Mocas with extra Moca.

I was a little disappointed with the Iced Americano, flavor seemed off a bit compared to other places I get this drink. Almost too bitter and really could not taste the Hazelnut at all. I would not reorder this item.

The Iced White Mocas were good flavor, I would probably get that drink if I was back at that location.

Other positives: Dining area and restrooms very clean. Cashier very friendly and got me signed up for rewards program. Busy but still enough tables & lounge chairs to sit without feeling squeezed in.

Music not overly loud so if I was doing work there or emails and got a call music would not be too distracting. A/C was comfortable not set at Arctic Blast. 👍

Drink service was pretty quick. Overall staff seemed pretty friendly, not on their phones so they were moving pretty quickly and engaging customers. 👍😁

If the Iced Americano was a bit more on point, would be a solid 5/5. Would go back.

There was a sign about doing construction on their door…so hours are shorter...

It’s really more of a 2.5 stars… but I didn’t want to put 2 stars… here are my thoughts:

-employees are busy, sharp, attentive, and willing and ready to serve. Constant action, and no slacking. So that’s good.

-the coffee: mediocre at best. This is the biggest shortcoming of the place.. which is rough because it’s a coffee shop. I ordered a double espresso, which is always a tried and true way to find out what a coffee shop has to deliver… they put it in a paper cup which is an obvious red flag for any one who knows their coffee/espresso.

-ambiance: too hip hop of a vibe… I like a nice sophisticated, quiet kind of vibe. But that’s just my opinion.

Biggest takeaway: Improve the quality of coffee. They should try ordering from different roasters. If they can figure this out, they will be a lot closer to having a quality coffee shop. Nothing against the business which is obviously doing okay! Just as a coffee consumer, I wouldn’t be back anytime soon.

Drive the extra mile and a half and try Kona Reserve on 1463… they will offer a tad higher...

The staff are unbelievably rude. I was told I could use my student discount and when I pulled up to the window, I was talking to a whole different employee that charged me full price. She said "Oh well" and stared at me. I asked her to please get someone who could correct this and she just stared at me and said "Fine, I will have to refund you and charge you again". She did not want to give me a receipt to show the refund. She did not even ask me my number so I could get rewards. I then reluctantly asked to speak to someone in charge because I could not believe the way she was talking to me. She said Devon was gone. I asked when he would be back and she shrugged. I am more sad than mad. I can't believe they treat...
