Local Table: Overpriced, Overhyped, and Underwhelming
If you care about quality and taste in food, avoid Local Table. Sure, the dishes look great—like they’re straight off a foodie’s Instagram—but the taste doesn’t deliver. I’m hopeful that they use good ingredients at least, but to be VERY HONEST, almost every dish felt BLAND, uninspired, and lacking any real depth of flavor.
It’s clear they’re cutting corners, especially on the volume of meat, which feels more like a garnish than a part of the meal. I ordered a Philly cheesesteak and it had VERY LITTLE meat in it - it was bizarre. The cook also forgot to add mayo into it - which is an essential part of the sandwich. My impression? I think that they must be trying to save money at the expense of the customer’s experience by hiring poor quality chefs/cooks, and they can’t keep good people employed there. That’s the only thing I can think it could be - and they need to seriously revisit their recipes and have another chef come in and remake it.
Adding to the disaster was the service. The waitresses were constantly arguing with the floor manager, making the entire atmosphere tense and uncomfortable. They seemed severely understaffed, and it showed. The only redeeming part of the evening was the drinks from the bar—which, unfortunately, aren’t enough to make up for the abysmal food and poor service.
We spent over $100 on a variety of dishes, hoping for at least something memorable. What we got instead was a stomachache and regret. I’ve tried Local Table three separate times recently (and other times in the past couple years), I’ve been to multiple locations, with different groups of people, and the result has been the same every single time. Everyone I’ve brought along—my girlfriend, friends, family—agrees: the food is bland, overpriced, and not worth it.
Unless you’re someone who doesn’t care about food taste/recipe quality and just wants a pretty plate, Local Table is not for you. If all you’re looking for is a good cocktail, maybe give the bar a try. But as for me, I’m done. Three strikes, and this place is officially off my list. (And if we are being honest, I’ve been there much more than 3 times trying different dishes in search of something tasty and...
Read moreI cannot believe I am posting this in 2024!!! This location has always been off for my husband and I. We normally visit Cinco Ranch which has been a great location because of the atmosphere and service. The discrimination at the Fulshear location is outright blatant and disgusting. My husband and I were looking forward to eating here this evening but this is our last visit! Since we moved to the area from Ohio 4 years ago we’ve visited this location about 3-4 times. Due to there’s not as many healthy restaurants in the area like we’re custom to in Ohio. However, each time we come to the Fulshear location we noticed the servers and host are very rude and non-present. Each time we had to wait almost 10 mins or more before getting ANY service even a glass of water. NO WELCOME nothing! Today NO ONE EVER came to serve us after being seated over 10 minutes. We saw multiple waiters and waitresses walking around a few just talking at the host station. When I say NO one asked to help us as we were seated the host unnecessarily said “oh you just got our last table on the patio.” There was multiple tables open, then she almost tossed our silverware in the table. There was no reason for her to say that as if she was doing us a favor “paying patron's”. Your job is to “host” to receive people as guest. I refuse to go anyplace which makes me feel unwanted and unwelcome! I don’t consider myself any race but if you consider yourself a person of color particular an “African American” or what America calls a “black” person “I do not recommend being a patron of this business”. DO NOT GO HERE!! I am a business owner and am TOTALLY appalled by the racism that was felt today. This is new for me maybe a southern thing but I’m so thankful my husband and I left and went to another restaurant where we were welcomed and the service was 5 stars 🌟. We refuse to be treated like a stereotype and the funny thing is we are amazing tippers. I’ve never had to express this type of treatment in my life! I will NEVER come to this restaurant and will tell everyone I know! Save your time and go somewhere with a positive vibe and energy this isn’t the place! I almost want to call the news how bad this was just ridiculous. Shame...
Read moreThe food was excellent. Casual, high quality eats. Mostly American (or Americanized) options. The seasonal drinks sounded amazing, but I didn't try them tonight, so if drinks are your thing, ask for the seasonal specials. The brussel sprouts appetizer was amazing, as were the fries, and pita bread served with my gyro. I will absolutely eat here again!
Atmosphere gets 3 stars, because the visual vibe is great, but it is very loud during peek hours.
Sound (ie, can I hear my partner at the table talk?): If you are sensitive to overwhelm due to sound, eat here during the slow hours of the day or ask to be seated outside (it's lovely when the weather is just right). Terrible sound quality in the architecture (lots of echoing, no softening of sound) and too much music + sports news + diners chatting all at the same time. I had to talk loud to be heard, but I did not have to yell. Light (for those headache days and photo-sensitive folks): Canned and other over-head lights are bright, but not horrible (the lighting outside is a bit softer, though). Seats (for those with physical needs): I sat in a booth. The seat was not broken in and was well placed regarding distance to the table - I was comfortable. There were a lot of basic high backed chairs that looked decently comfortable. Bring your cushion if hard seats are difficult and booths are out of the question. Accessibility: It looked wheelchair accessible, but not super easy. Typical restaurant tightness....
