BENTO Gainesville Newberry — Restaurant in Gainesville

Avoid the one on newberry.

Updating since I was asked, after ordering a veggie roll and teriyaki rice bowl (take out), I was told it would be done in 30 min. When I arrive 35 min later it wasn't ready and I was told they were waiting on one thing and it would be brought out to me. During the next 45 min I was waiting on my order I watched the line cooks actually stand in front of the cash register on the eating side of the restaurant and start teaching eachother what I can only imagine was secret handshakes while me and atleast 2 others waiting over an hour for our meals. The reason I actually took the time to write the original review was as I walked up to let them know I was here to see if my order was ready another gentleman (obviously complaining about how slow your service at your newberry road store is) the receptionist started helping him but never fixed his problem the young lady in front of me left after a few min of waiting as she was next, I let the receptionist know what happened she shrugged her shoulders and said I don't care. This store is beyond sub par to any bento I've been to. Came here after seeing the pictures in Google reviews and saw the tofu option. Wanting to try that and the drink we stopped in. The staff was friendly but that’s about all this place offered. Soda machine didn’t “have working ice”. Had to have staff fill our cup after we asked why the machine wasn’t working. Should have been advised this at check out. The soda was also flat, carbonation apparently wasn’t working so the cashier gave us a drink from the cooler… also something that should have been addressed when ordering. There was backpacks and old food trays around the store and no customers. Not really any seating because of this and the store was very hot and wet feeling so we just sat outside. Not sure what’s up with the ventilation here but that wasn’t pleasant. The food was not worth the prices at all as the crispy noodles were stale, they gave you no dressing with the salad (literally just lettuce and a tomato with sliced cucumbers), and the tofu was hard at the ends. The onions were good though. The green beans were cold, but tasted good. Paid $40+ for gas station quality food.

Well to keep it 100, the last 3 times i have gone i get sick. Got aomething different everytime but always get a slush with it and idk if they need to clean something or maybe that is ment to happen but it used to have some really good food. But i guess the franchise is really tanking these days they still have most the bento locatons but have tanked almost all the side(better focused business models) and have really lowerd the quality and the bar at all the bento locations. I really miss Heros it was around when i can Remember bentos being good last. And now that they killed the mochi off they just don't have much to offer. I have watched the rise and fall of so many plaves that had so much promise and waste it on lazy cash grabs and putting out sub-substandard food. Even the "eel" sause is syrup now. But just like dragonfly they think looking slick and sleazy makes up for actually having to make anything of quailty anymore. Guess at least at dragonfly you can still get a quality desserts. Also on an urgent side not; please please please stop putting sushi on top of hot items. Its simple food...
