I used to go to Longstreet Cafe many times for breakfast during my Senior year of high school. I have always enjoyed their biscuits and the homey atmosphere the restaurant brought in. I haven’t been back at Longstreet for years due to college and a busy work schedule, but I recently found time to go back and see how the place has been. I went around 4:30pm when dinner service starts and I initially couldn’t turn into the main parking lot as a queue of cars had formed on Riverside Terrace leading to the drive through. I was able to park in the lower parking deck and made my way inside. The dinning hall still had that homey feel to it as I made my way to the line to select my food. I ended up getting a grilled Tilapia filet, mashed potatoes & gravy, macaroni & cheese, some squash casserole and banana pudding with a drink of sweet tea. I sat down with my food after paying and observed around me the sports memorabilia and old photos on the wall taking me back to the old days. They even have signed football jerseys of Deshaun Watson who was a year younger than me when I was at GHS. Out of all the food items I got, it was the mashed potatoes that stood out for me. They tasted good and with a texture that you can feel that it was homemade. It was surprising for me to find out that Longstreet Cafe has been opened since 1997! With such a big and loyal customer base, I had initially thought it had been around much longer. Well with good home style southern cooking, cordial customer service and traditional atmosphere, this place will certainly be a longtime eatery in Gainesville.

These people block traffic and are way over priced. I can’t even get to my home because of how slow and back up they are. They block Oak Street and it causes accidents and is ridiculous I wish honestly it was fined for blocking traffic because of the drive thru. Food is greasy and gross as well. Just a bunch of none caring people about the way they affect traffic and slowest drive thru… 11/27/2023 they had traffic all the way backed up to Green Street I almost got hit by 2 people they are a bad bad restaurant for the way the block traffic and I saw almost 2 head on collision something needs to be done about there lack of caring about screwing up traffic I will be reporting them to Gainesville Police and Hall County Sheriff office it’s a shame how the careless about their poor handling of traffic I’ve posted pictures and it’s just getting worse. Somebody do something it’s wrong that they get away with almost causing accidents and for a crappie greasy meal that’s over priced they should be shut down for being so incompetent

This is an old fashioned buffet with "home cooked" selections! Oh my! Food was delicious, table service for beverages served with kindness and a smile plus a good price. We got there for dinner when they opened at 5 & the place was packed! Parking was a challenge with drive through vehicles around the building but we found parking within a short walk. Once Inside, you have to wait in line while others fill their plates but 10 minutes wasn't bad because there's plenty of articles on the walls telling the history of the Longstreet family, the restaurant and the community. I felt blessed at religious items on display but not intimidated or uncomfortable with that. A nice surprise was a gentleman playing the clarinet with perfect music at just the right volume. We had 6 family members with us as we were visiting for the week. This was their suggestion for our family outing and we couldn't have been more pleased with their recommendation!

Visited tonight and got two chicken thighs and a bowl of vegetable soup. Plus they had lasagna ( I didn't get any lasagna) but i did get the garlic toast šŸ˜‹ Longstreet makes the best garlic toast around. Everything looked good but I really wanted the soup. Fast and delicious. Reasonable prices too.

UPDATE ! This evening we went thru the drive through, orderd a baked potato a large dinner salad sweet potato souffle and an a sweet tea. I asked for extra butter and sour cream for my potato and extra dressing for the salad . It is my fault for not checking the order but I was on break for lunch and had to return to work. When I got to work to find the baked potato missing, no sour cream and two plain pieces of white bread with butter that I hadn't even orderd. I got back in the truck and drove back to the restaurant. I called ahead to facilitate a sution to this mistake. I was put on hold and when I asked to speak to the manager I was told that he was busy and would not be able to help me . So I told the youg girl the missing items .She again put me on hold then told me to drive around to the red door and the correct items would be brought out . By this time I am already 15 min late. I drove to the proper door and waited . While looking in my rear view mirror I happend to see several of the window servers pointing fingers at me and saying something about me that I can assure wasn't so nice. Upon the arrival of the corrected menue items the little girl preceded to lecture me on rude behavior never once apologized even said that the order was correct and implied that she had personally checked the bag before I drove away. I can assure you that I will never hurry thru the dive thru there again with out checking my order first. The young staff at the drive thru certainly need lessons in customer service and conflict resolutions... if that young girl can not handle a mistake without narcissisticly blaming the customer for trying to get a proper order which was paid in full plus was even paid for with the inclusion of food not orderd then she should not take on the role of management in the first place. I aked to speak to the manager in the beginning. I have been a customer of this restaurant since it's inception and I am fersnockerd to understand why it has such poor attitude when they make a mistake. It used to be so...

IM DEVISITATED. I WONT RETURN! A SAD 😩 😭 day. It's been a while since I've been able to enjoy a plate from longstreet Cafe in GAINESVILLE, GA (first location). No matter how far I move from this place I always make a point to stop whenever I'm in the area, whether hungry or not. I'm very picky about what I eat, so I have always got the exact plate with maybe extra rolls. My MEAL: Fried Chicken Breast N Wing, Double Mac N Cheese, with a roll or 4 lol. WHY DID YOU MESS UP THE MAC N CHEESE WITH THE CAN CHEESESAUCE INSTEAD OF HOMEMADE MAC N CHEESE???? Homemade mac n cheese isn’t orange in color, that’s the 1st issue (except the perfect top layer of cheese melted from being baked in the oven). Second y'all should not waste any shredded cheese on top of that cooked pasta and a CAN OF CHEESESAUSE. It doesn't help and not fooling anyone. When I saw what I had been given from the place I have always spoke so highly about. Real homemade mac n cheese I can have it by itself and be extra happy. It's one of those things you enjoy but everytime I try to do it mine is never like the ones that told me how the did it lol. I'm not mad and this isn't meant to be mean. Whomever owns this business knows they have so many that it doesn't bother and you have the business and always have had. One of my favorite places since the age of 16 and I went twice in a day when I lived in the area which was about 16 years. It's your business I completely understand because it goes so quick and takes time to prepare. I don't like the picture below but it shows it better. I wanted to show I was telling the truth. I gave my son the mac n cheese you see is missing from photo. He will eat it and loves when I can't eat...

I had came in there on 12/29/2023 and purchased Catfish and two vegs for which I come there just about every other Friday to get it. I had noticed it was more salty than normal and it had kinda of a funny taste I ate one side and started on the other and it tasted not good. I asked the waitress if she could replace the other fish with chicken for which she did so I took it home and I ate my veggies and left. About 30 minutes later I got Diarrhea and started having a headache and chills and sick at my stomach. So I called there and spoke to Tina and she was really rude to me and said I don't think you got sick from here you may be getting the flu and I told her I was feeling fine until I ate and she told me to call the next day and speak to Justin. Then about a hour later I started throwing up along with Diarrhea so I was gonna go to the Hospital but I was so sick I could not Drive so I called the Dr and had a Video call and told her what had happened and she said that I had got Food Poisioning and called me in some pills to help stop me from throwing up for which I could not go get until the next day. So I quit throwing up around 10:00 am the next day but still had Diarrhea for another day. So I called and spoke to Justin and he to said he did not think I had gotten food poisioning from eating there that he thinks I may have just gotten what ever is going around. I told him that the FIS was not good that I had gotten he could ask the waitress there and he told me yeah the waitress and Ann both told him that I had called. But needless to say nothing was done. That is Bad business to call your Customer a liar. I don't think I will be...
