Should be renamed to Sub-Standard Service.
I've heard nothing but great things about this place, but after three bad experiences here I have no reason to try again.
First time I came they gave our appetizer to another table, and never came to check on us. We had to get up from outdoor seating to go inside and see what had happened.
My second experience was with a large group of friends (7 of us) on a busy night. We were told there would be a wait and we had no problem. Some of our party sat at the few open seats at the bar to wait and the rest of us sat outside at the picnic tables. After waiting for 40 minutes and seeing other large parties leaving we decide to check back in with the hostess. She point blank said that she removed us from the list because the rest of our party left. We were literally outside waiting in 38 degree weather and the staff could see us through multiple windows.
Came here one final time and we were seated quickly. Our waitress had this stand-offish attitude the whole time, like it was a chore to serve us. 10 minutes after being seated they got our drink orders. One member of my party waited 20 minutes to get her drink, and had to go to the bar herself to remind our waitress that she ordered it. The same member of my party had to go to the bar herself again to order another. Considering there were only 6 other guest in the main dining area and the staff was visibly hanging out chatting with each other I didn't find there was a good excuse for this.
Our food was okay, and they didn't cook the burger to my request of medium but I ate it anyway. After our waitress had brought the bill she said she forgot to put one of the drinks on our ticket. I have no issue paying for what I ordered but, when the service is bad and I can visibly see you playing on your phone instead of making my drink I felt kind of insulted that she added it back after forgetting about it twice.
All in all it seems like the staff is just a bunch of kids who really don't care about service. I'm 0 for 3 with this restaurant and the food really isn't good enough to make you forget about all the other negatives. I will not be returning, and I recommend others take their business to some other great dining establishments in Gainesville. I find Kelly's Tavern has a similar kind of menu and price if you're in the mood for bar...
Read moreThe ambiance was nice, good vibe, crowded, alive with noise. Nice facility. The food was not good. 2 couples dined and 4/4 left still hungry. Worst fish and chips presentation ever, soggy French fries and 2 small, fish stick sized pieces of fish that were over fried. One of our party had broccoli, mashed potatoes and fried chicken that was okay. The other diners had fish tacos that were small and disappointing and dinner shrimp corn salad with sliced avocado that was small but tasty. One person ordered a piece of pie to fill up, but was disappointed by how small the serving was. We started with a sweet potato appetizer that was very small and not very good. The bill was not small and all considered it relatively expensive for the value. There is a downstairs tap room area where you pay for a chip encoded wrist band that serves as an open credit card to tap on a good selection of self serve beer, cider and wine dispensed and priced by the ounce and sit outside on picnic tables where there were also flat screen TVs. For example, Creature Comforts Tropicalia was $.55/oz. Different concept, saves on servers and you are self served at your own pace. I gave positive points for the facility, modern, clean and pleasant. Our server was attentive. The negative was the food, small portions and pricey for the value. We all decided we were glad we tried the restaurant which had some positive aspects, but there was nothing compelling to bring us back because of the food. Hate to be negative and there were definitely some positives to...
Read moreIf I could give this place a 0/5 stars…I would. We were SO hopeful for this restaurant because of the photos online and the descriptions on the menu - but gosh were we wrong once we arrived. From the second we walked in, the vibes were OFF. Every single person we came in contact with (including the hostess) either had an attitude or truthfully…didn’t want anything to do with us lol. Except our waiter (red hair and glasses guy!!!), who basically rescued us because the woman at the bar wasn’t paying attention to us when we sat down.
As people watchers, we were just observing all the staff members because each one that passed by looked either super annoyed or upset about something. There were no smiles at all, which was kind of concerning but we also found it entertaining because it became a game of “let’s figure out what’s going on behind the scenes.”
When the food came out, my order was incorrect and when I brought it to their attention - our waiter was at first kind about it and brought it back to the kitchen, then immediately came back out saying it was actually what I ordered (when it wasn’t). Then after showing him it wasn’t, he brought it back to the kitchen again and then said “SORRY FOR THE GASLIGHTING”….which I mean yes thank you for the apology and the acknowledgment but by this time - I think we were all just done with the experience in general. I couldn’t even finish my fixed burger and seeing how expensive this place was after the total was paid, you would expect wayyyyyy better service than what...
